Hello,

I just got a new Axis Super Sport delivered. The guitar looks and plays great. However, there is one things that bothers me. The volume and the tone knob are completely uneven. Did anyone else experience that? I don't think it's meant to be like that.

Not being a smart arse but have you tried pressing down on it?
If so, take them both off and see if one has a washer under and the other doesn’t

Another fix is to put a washer INSIDE the body, between the pot and cavity. Add whatever you need until it evens them out.

Well, I figured it out. The volume and tone knobs are different on the inside. The Volume knob is flat on the inside, while the tone knob ist fluted (?). The volume knob came off quite easily. I almost couldnt get the tone knob off, though. I put them back on again, but the volume knob only 3/4, so that it looks even.

Still something I wouldn't expect from a guitar that expensive...

Did you get it new or used?

The guitar is brand new. Hmm, I somehow can't imagine the teleknobs on the axis right now. I might give them a try, though. Thanks!

So if it's a new guitar have the shop where you for it correct the issues. Or give CS a call and see what they have to say. That's what a warranty is for.

Are you talking about the inside of the knob, or the shaft of the pot that comes out of the guitar body? I'm pretty sure all the pots that EBMM uses are split shaft knurled. Is there a set screw on the side of the volume knob?

That's just weird. But it's also something I could see easily being overlooked.

Yes, I contacted the shop and asked for a new pair of knobs. Don't want to send it back necessarily.

Yes, I'm talking about the inside of the knobs. There are no screws to tighten. The pots are split shaft knurled.

The top hat style don't usually have a set screw to tighten them down they are usually held under tension. If your looking to replace them, EBMM offers them on their site, but I'd still contact the seller and CS to see what's up give them a chance to make it right, if there is a problem.

Shop Ernie Ball Music Man - Axis/EVH Knob

PS Nice guitar, welcome.

I have the same guitar with different knobs but with the same problem. I bought it used and was unsure if was aftermarket pots or knobs. To fix it i originally filed the top of top post down a little, but that didn't really work so I drilled out the base of the knob a little and it sat down nicely. I'll grab a pic in a few days as the guitar is at my practice studio and I won't be there until Tuesday. Interesting to see someone else had the issue.
