Just picked up an unplayed AX30D and the first thing I want to do is replace the non-locking tuners. I’m having a heckuva time locating the Schaller M6-IND tuners which if memory serves are drop in replacements for the stock tuners. Can anyone out there point me in the direction of the individual tuners? I can find the 3x3 and inline tuners all day long but I can’t find the individuals. Stew Mac used to have them but I can’t find them on their site. Googling hasn’t helped either. Thanks in advance.

EDIT>>> I see the MM site has the newest version of the tuners for $25 each (yikes!!). I know they say they aren’t intended for the SBMM instruments. I know Pete has them too. I guess maybe a call to Praxis may be in order. Maybe they can help.

Are these the ones:
Yes, but I need 4 of the one type and 2 of the other. 3 and 3 won’t work. Stewmac used to have the IND version where you could buy 4 and 2. I can’t find them anyplace now.

The Ratio tuners are very good. Warmoth also sells individual M6-IND tuners. The days of $100 Schaller sets are gone...
Pete does have them on Reverb, as well as, his website.

I think I may have what you need, I have 4 of the M05183 and 2 of the M05182 Peal Locking Schallers, I think took them off of a Axis SS for a more approraite look or somthimg a couple of years ago.
If this is what you need I can UPS them to you, as I have no use for them, otherwise they will sit in my gear box forever, at east they would be utalized again and live a long full life with meaning and purpose.... no charge, just PM me where you want them sent to.

I just figured out that I got them but never took them out of the bag / brand new

FYI, I'm guessing the reason why the EBMM site says they're not for SbMM instruments (other than wanting to keep the instrument lines distinguished and, more likely, not wanting to field support calls) is b/c the SbMM tuners use pins on the machine body for retention, while the Schallers use a screw through a flange that extends from the body. I believe you'll need to drill the headstock to mount the Schallers.

Same flange. They'll be a direct drop in. BTW this is one of the old AX30D guitars from about 10 years ago. They used the flange mounted Schaller-type tuners as you can see below.

You need to share a family photo of all of your AX30D's edhalen. You seem to have the same affliction I do...
Actually this will be the only one. I had a Natural quilt prototype a while back which I sold. Someone here bought it. Don't remember who..... I don't think this one will be going anywhere (I know I know...famous last words lol). They have a beefier neck than the EBMM ASS as well as a 12" radius vs 10" on the ASS. Both suit me better. This one appears to be unplayed. I'll be getting it mid next week. NGD post will be provided with pics as usual :).
