Hi all, I just bought my first EBMM guitar, a stingray RS. Woohoo! What a masterpiece. The hard case it came with is a tank! I can barely fit it in my trunk. Any recommendations for a gig bag that provides reasonable protection but is more portable for daily use?

Nice! Welcome to the club, we need some pics! The StingRay is my first love for EBMM too.

I bought the Gator Metro (or Transit?) padded gig bag out of convenience since it was available at my local music store. I've got probably 50+ gigs on it now and I'm really happy with it for something reasonably priced. Otherwise, the Mono stuff is tip top; albeit a bit more expensive.

Awesome thanks! I'm thrilled to have joined the club. Here's a pic of my new baby. I've yet to name her.

Wow, beautiful guitar and welcome to the forum!

I have a Mono Sleeve (the slim grey one). Excellent protection but still quite slim. The big flap over the pocket with the buckle is a triumph of style of function but I'm used to it now. It's super comfortable. Pre-covid I would travel to all my guitar students and I just loved having it on my back. I've flown with it a bunch of times, it goes great in an overhead locker of an aircraft and if it has to be gate checked I think it'll protect the guitar OK against strollers or small suit cases.

Reunion Blues RBX series are solid, well-made, nicely protective. I carry two guitars to the gig in one of their double gig bags and don't think twice.

Nice StingRay, btw. I covet that color. I have a red one with the old poly finish neck and it's a great guitar but I wish it was sunburst / RS.

Great, I'll check this case too. Glad their are multiple good options.

I got really lucky with the colour. I've always wanted a sunburst guitar, but in my fantasies it was a Les Paul. Until I tried a Les Paul, and it felt like a baseball bat. My buddy, who has two Stingray basses, pulled this EBMM off the wall of the shop and handed it to me. I had never heard of the brand. I couldn't believe how nice it felt, and how amazing it sounded. And it just happened to be a sunburst. It was a floor demo model that the shop was trying to get rid of. I got it for almost the price of used, but with a full warranty. Not a scratch on it. No brainer purchase. I finally found a guitar that feels amazing in my stupidly small fingers.

My favorite gig bag to date is the Suhr deluxe padded gig bag. I bought it used for about 80 bucks and been using it for years and still looks great. I have put all my guitars in it without issue. Nice looking guitar by the way, congrats!

Love my Mono. And EBMM just posted to social media that they now offer a Mono gig bag; might be made to measure for somewhat smaller dimensions? Haven't had time to investigate

Yeah I saw that too. It says on their website that they aren't selling it separately yet, but are considering making it available in the future. Unfortunately I think I'll need a bag before that.

The EBMM Mono case is a replacement for the older hardshell cases. Same protetcion but 2 lbs lighter. Not really a gig bag though.

I just wish EBMM had added backpack straps to their new cases.

They didn't?? Wow that's a big miss.

Not that I saw. I'd love to be wrong, though.

A few new EBMMs have shown up on dealer sites with the Mono soft case; as @DrKev says these are not gig bags, they are softside cases - meaning they are full case thickness. So it does make sense that they don't have backpack straps.

I've only seen the soft case with Sabre HTs so far; any other model I've seen come in lately has still had the molded hard case.

Sorry for picking up a photo from a dealer, but while it's kind of dark it does show how deep these soft cases appear to be:

Interesting. I'm kinda glad mine came with the hard case then. I'd rather have a hard case for when I need serious protection, and a good quality gig bag for traveling light.

Baloney. If my kid's hard-sided full size cello case can have backpack straps, there is zero reason why these cases can't.
