The EBMM Mono case is a replacement for the older hardshell cases. Same protetcion but 2 lbs lighter. Not really a gig bag though.

Right, but... this year a select few instruments are shipping with Mono Bags (I think the Vertigo), but next year the transition to Mono Cases takes place.

The Mono Cases are very different from the bags and provide for a ton of protection. They are larger than the SKB cases in most dimensions and have a lot more padding.

Personally I love the Vertigo ... I have no use for the cases, they just sit in a pile.

Yeah the cases aren't really good for anything other than flying and touring. It's probably going into my storage locker once I get a soft case. The vertigo does look pretty amazing.
