Is Derek Trucks still playing with him? (I would rather listen to DT than EC)

Nice one, Brent.

Is Doyle Bramhall II style on tour with Eric. Seeing Eric, Doyle, and Derek Trucks in the same band must have been great.

I saw Clapton in the mid-late 80's.. and the opening act was Buckwheat Zydeco. Mark Knopfler joined Clapton on stage for a few songs, too.

I really love EC's "From the Cradle" album though.

There's a part of me inside that says "I wish he'd pull out the SG and Marshall just once"

Got my tickets for his Brisbane show already.

Can't wait. Last time he toured Oz was 1990. I saw him then too.

What a lineup he's bringing around with him too. I'm really looking forward to seeing Derek Trucks play.

Burn me down in a war of flame if you need to, but I have never rated Eric Clapton. His best work was on the Beano album, followed by Cream and I don'y think he has really done anything that good since (maybe Layla!) He seems to be the guitar hero for the man in the street who does not know any better. He is just so average! Derek Trucks is a way superior player in every way. Maybe the bill should read Derek Trucks, featuring Eric Clapton on backup 2nd guitar!?

i have a dvd of John Mayall's 25th ann concert, Clapton plays on it, but is BACKSEATED big time by Buddy Whittington, Mayall's regular guitarist. Clapton just stays away as Buddy smokes him off the stage. Great to watch, Buddy is one amazing blues/country player.

I was going to mention this too, but I figured I had enough Clapton bashing for one post!

Steve, I saw that tour too. Clapton played my favorite song that he did off the "Same Old Blues" album/cd/whatever and that's the song. Everybody around me was like what the heck is this, and I'm yah man!!!!!!!

Clapton was the one that really got me interested in guitar, yah he's a good player, and sure there are others out there that are far better, but look at the number of people that have been influenced by him. :)

By the way I remember that a player by the name of Steve Lukather played on this album and influenced Clapton into more effects. If memory serves me right he was into Steve rig at the time.

if it wernt for eric clapton .......pop guitar would probably be VERY different than it is . clapton's tone was THE beacon in the mid & late sixties. that 335 through a marshall..along w/ his majic hands TONE back then still TOTALLY stands the test of time. & i can tell u derek trucks would be the first to give eric credit. i doo agree derek is absolutely brilliant......

Tim, If I may be so bold, Clapton's carear far outways any of ours!- Lucious etc. withstanding. as far as I recall he's had over 20 albums since layla, unplugged was mega and lots more....

I'm not a clapton nut or anything, I just can't understand why you would not give credit to a potential cornerstone of the guitar community and no matter what brand of instrument you play you must recognise his considerable ongoing contribution to guitar and music.
