Last night after the last tune, I hopped down to talk to the people at our table and since it was right there, kept my bass strapped on. I slung it around behind my back, something I've done about a billion times before, and the straplock by the bridge just let go. I never had a chance.

The brand new 30th Anniversary Stingray bounced off the hardwood floor. What a horrible noise that is.

I inspected it quite thoroughly this morning and I can't find any damage. Maybe a little tiny thingy by that bottom strap button, but it doesn't really look like much at all. The pickguard seems to have been scratched, but hey, it's a pickguard. Other than that - nothing.

Built like a tank. Unbelievable. What tough instruments! Photos in a bit.

Very scary situation (very and scary rhyme, I know) The 30ths sound great, and now we see that they are tough too! Glad it's OK, Jack. It's a bad sound/feeling when an intrument hits the ground. Unless it's an accordian, or banjo. I apologize in advance to all the accordian and banjo players in the house. I'm just sayin.

Ouch! I bounced the headstock on mine off the basement ceiling last week, and there was a little white spot at the point of impact but I buffed it out. Good to know those exotic woods are as tough as they are beautiful.

Remeber the SUB/futbol incident?

We know EBMMs are tough... for those who remember, I posted back in May about my irate drummer friend who punted my bass (in gigbag) across the floor after he accidentally tripped over it while not looking where he was going. If they can make it through that, they can make it through anything.

My SR5 wasn't so lucky when a friend of mine dropped one of my old Fernandes on it. Got a nice little ding from where the Fernandes tuning post hit my fretboard on the 19th fret.

Oh well. You can hardly notice it.

Glad your 30th is ok. :)

Mental note: NO straplocks on my new LE. ;)

Spoke to JW a little while ago. That is an awful sound to hear your new baby take a tumble, but it sounds like it came through fine.

Damn! Time to re-assess the brand of straplocks... I usually choose S*****er... Not sure if U can plug another brand here...but have been relying on them for years. Very glad to hear the bass is ok...

I couldn't even look down for a few seconds. EXACTLY like the patrol lights in the rear-view!

It killed. I played the first two sets with the single H Bongo 5 because it's my security blanket and I was tempted to just finish out the night because why try to fix what ain't broke. But I had the Stingray....it was just sitting there.....and even though it went all floor exercise on me later, I'm glad I used it.

I've been fishing around for a good Stingray for a while, and I've been through some good ones, really....but it's hard to compete with these Bongos. I think the 30th stacks up very well, even following two sets with the Secret Weapon.

Punchy. Precise. FAT. I don't feel like I gave up a thing when I went from the Bongo to the Stingray. For me, that's saying something. Brian was happy because the SR4 is so traditional looking, of course. I was happy because I have a Stingray!

Wow, I'm glad the bass made it through alright.

If only EB made straplocks. They'd be invincible, and none of us would ever have to worry about falling basses. :D
