Hi,

I have a 1978 Stingray bass. I bought it new and have been playing it for the past 29 years. About 6 months ago the sound started buzzing and futzing out. I took it to a local guitar shop and the tech told me that the board could not be repaired and I should replace it with an EMG preamp and controls. I took his advice and I am not happy with the results. The fat MM sound is not the same with the EMG circuits.
I want to get the original sound back. Does EB make a replacement board?
Any advice?

Thanks,
charlie

Charlie,
Yes they do still make the 2 band eq. But I have been told EB will require your old dead board back in exchange.

There's not another pre that can give you the Music Man sound IMO.
Flea uses aguilar, but those sound completly different, just send your old preamp to Ernie Ball and get a new one.
