OT: So i had my first ever brawl last night... (long read)

hey so like the title says, i got into a bit a brawl/gang war last nigth through no fault of my own, heres what happened:

so basically here i was last night walking across the road to a mcdonalds in a seedy area when this group of drunk teenagers walks past me. A 13 yr old from the group grabs me and starts screaming at me "YOU WANNA STATR SOMETHING (insert expletives)" so i chuckled a bit because it was so not even scary, but then one of his bigger and older friends come over and throws a punch at me. Hits me square in the eye! Then the gang turns it attention one me and my 2 friends so we retreat into the mcdonalds, only to have the gang follow us.

So i get into maccas and a few come in and are in my face yelling at me;, 'WHY WOULD YOU TAKE AN EFFING SWING AT A 13 YR OLD!!!!" I was a bit confused by this because as far as i knew all i had done was try to walk across the road to mcdonalds to get myself a $5 feed. So then these security gaurds rock up and have to drag a few of these drunk teenagers from the store. So im a bit shaken up as im not exactely a big macho fighting sort of guy

I'm then told by some people that the entire gang of about 20 guys are waiting outside for me and that to go out there and try to get back to my friends car would be the equivelant of putting a loaded gun in my mouth and pulling the trigger. So here i am angry and scared in this mcdonalds thinking how the hell am i gonna get back to the car and get out of here.!? Then these nice guys inside the store come over to me and tel me that they saw some of the guys in this gang laying into a woman earlier in the night, simply becuase she tried to stop them from destroying her car, so he was wanting to help us out and get back at them. and this guy brought along about 5 or so of his equally built friends. So it was starting to look like i had a bit of a gang war on my hands.

Then one of the security gaurds comes over to me and says that the police have come and that if i wanted any chance of geting out safely then i have to come now while the police are dealing with them. So i hurry out of the store with one of the guys trying to defend me telling me that i should wait and get my $5 feed. i told him this was more important. i also look behind me and it seems that i have a crowd of onlookers, with about 2 other people followng me to see what was going on.

so then i come out of the store and of course the police are taking to this gang rigth infront of my friends car. and the gang starts screaming at me saying they were gonna get me for having a go at their 13 yr old friend.

so the police take me aside and ask me whether this was true. i told her that all i had done was walk across the streeet to get some maccas and that as an 18 yr old who only weighs about 55Kg, im not the sort to go picking a fight with a gang of 20+ drunk guys. needless to say she beleives me and asks if i want to press charges, i told her it wasnt worth it so then i got escorted back to the car and was told to make sure we werent followed on the way home.


so now im sitting here with a black eye and a bit of a headache still thinking, all i wanted was a $5 feed, which i didnt even get.

so anyway i just thought i would share that experience with you all!

ill try and post some photos of the blackeye tomorrow.

not to sound all macho and stuff, but I had a similar thing happen to me and my friends, except another 10 of my friends were inside the store we were going to, and when they heard the yelling they came out. SOme young ppunk (maybe 19 or 20) took a swing at me, and as I dodged it, I landed a left hook to hsi eye, crushing his ocular cavity.

Cops came, ambulance came for the guy because I basically broke his face and dislocated his jaw. Cops got my story and the story of onlookers. Cop asked me if I wanted to press charges, and I said yes, and he was read his rights while on a backboard!

A-holes deserve what is coming to them, and everytime a cop asks me if I want to press charges, I say yes. At the very leas,t it makes them sweat, especially when they live at home and have to call mommy to expain why they are in cuffs.

Glad to hear you are ok man. Stuff like that makes me hate people to no end.

Sorry to hear about that. I'm 24, and have never been in a fight. I guess being 6' tall and 270 helps

Im 24, 6 foot 1 inch and 285. I am still amazed at the number of people who try to start crap with me. I remind them they ae making a very poor decision and should reconsider the value of the ability to walk

Hey, let's face it . . . . folks don't participate in this type of criminal activity because they are "Intellectually Gifted". "From the shallow end of the gene pool" would be a much better description - typically too damn stupid to know better . . . .

thanks for all the support! Yeh im kidna over it now, although the blaceye does suck cuz i work in a restraunt as a waiter and i dont think management will like my new look

Like jack, have had a few laughs from this as well, but also kinda sad at the amount of people who have had similar experiences. But i agree with BP in saying that we should stay away from the political side of things. I always do in social situations as well just cuz i find your never going to change anyones mind and the only thing that is going to happen is that tempers are gonna get raised.

So here's to hassling the crap outta drunk hooligans who have one thing going for them in life....welfare!

I have been in a few scuffles in my time and being a teacher I usually break up one or two a month... it never ceases to amaze me how and why these things start (I have some mamoth stories). Anyway, important thing is that you are ok!!!

Sending the little guy to start the fight is a common tactic for these type of groups who have no balls 1-on-1. Charging in to "help" their little buddy gives them an excuse to feel manly about taking on a vastly outnumbered group. 1-on-1 they would run away squealing.

Similar thing happened to a couple of mates of mine a month or two ago... they were set upon by about 7 or 8 guys, stole wallets phones etc.. I was furious.

Unfortunately crime is on the up in australia at the moment... and is only going to get worse, which I won't get into.

Glad to hear you are ok CE - not much you can do in those situations other than run.

Adrenalin is a wonderful drug......... If I was gonna go down I would have taken a couple with me. It's amazing the effect seeing your mate out cold does for your 'bravado'. Just my opinion, mind. Being 6th Dan Aikido can come in handy in these situations though... use his uncoming speed against him (he'll be chest out/front on... grab his leading arm as he throws one and pull towards/beyond you) and catch him just behind the ear with a well aimed 'firm hand' and he'll be 'content' for about 10 minutes. Then run!!!

Smart man...you did the right thing. They obviously were hoping you would return the punch so they could sissy fight and all gang up on you. Better to be smart and be alive, than proud, stupid and dead. I can't believe the way boys fight these days. I say boys, because they don't fight like men any more. They have to have 10 guys to one....not including the guns they have under their baggy pants....COWARDS! And as far as arresting them, they probably would have only taken one in, and the other nine would now have your address from the arrest warrant and be waiting outside your home to hurt you and your family. So yeah...I think you did the right thing.
