Can one of you techy guys explain the TONE BLOCK thing?
How big/deep is it? layout, etc...
This turns to be *the* main thing about this bass (excluding the face lift :D ).
I know that maple tops give snappier highs and a little more sustain but it's the first time I hear the term 'tone block'.

This is what I know from things I've read here on the forum..

The tone block first made a public appearance in the 20th Anniv Silo. It is a block of mahogany (spelling?) that's chillin inside the body of the instrument. Its roughly shaped like an absolute bottle and goes from the neck pocket and extends down towards the bridge under the PUPs.

So that's what I know from stuff ive read on the guitar side. Essentially, its a magic peice of mahog inside the body that brings with it out an awesome tonal characteristc

THe one block is kind of secret as to the details of its exact size etc. It is a mahoghany plug that runs from the neck socket to the bridge The tone block isnt the whole banana it is the combination of a resonant body wood the block and the tightening of the highs the maple cap gives you......it is the three tone woods that enables us to deliver very consistant resonance

How do you photograph it to look like it is floating in space? Is it photoshopped or just on a matt white background which does not reflect light back?
IIRC, EBMM has like this suction thing that'll hold on to the bass from the back so it looks like it's floating in the air. ... hehe floating in the air

Sounds good to me. I didn't know if it was an entire back of the instrument or some sort of inlay. Either way, sounds like a good concept to me.

The tone is so unbelievable. It really is just flat out awesome. You can't judge the instrument without playing it!!! It will be available in H, HH, HS, no piezo. Multiple pickups will all be in parralell. On the single H Dudley has came up with smoking new series sound for position 2. Only one color finish which is titled "California Sunset" at the moment. Maple and Rosewood boards and matching is an option. If you kiddies are good I'll post one with a single H and maple board later today.. : )

Dargie, I've been good! Lessee the maple board please!

Imagine what the fretless version is going to sound like. Say, HS....

Blank plank with matching headstock...beautiful.
But I think I'll have to get a fretted == cause I'll want it to be my main bass!

Great job!

this is just a guess based on some stuff we all know and some observations from other LE runs.

We know the bass will be officially shown in Jan at NAMM. from president ill wager that the bass will be available to order starting at NAMM. but then they're gonna need some time to retool & program machines to accomodate the new stuff (new top, carving for tone blocks, making tone blocks, new electronics mounting)... so after that time passes, assuming the waiting period is like now (5-6 months) then you're looking at at least 7 months from now.

but im just trying to make an educated guess based on my observations over the years hangin out here. i could be WAY off so dont hold anyone to my guesstimate... could be longer, could be shorter
