Sting is in Havana now on vacation and wanted to jam with Cuba's top musicians. So a private jam was organised last night. Sting said he loved the tone and touch of Elmer's playing and guitar(Silhouette Special). Electric guitarist Elmer Ferrer gave a sizzling performance recently at Havana's upscale Sala Atril nightclub. Ferrer, who heads up his own band and is also a sought-after studio musician in Cuba, had just added a couple of new members to the group. Their high energy and smiles all round showed the musicians were clearly pleased with their concert -- a mix of blues, rock and jazz.

Hi Guys, Billy Johnston here, manager of Elmer. Elmer loves musicman SS guitars, "more strat than Strat" the tone on this guitar is great.

He has toured the world as a sideman, even got to meet Lukther at the Tokyo Jazz fest, Steve really enjoyed Elmer's playing. Elmer has speed and great feel.

He is not related to Ibrahim, but we do smoke cigars, I drink rum, he drinks whisky!

We made the decision to provide a high quality stream of all songs from the last CD and some jazz stuff Elmer did before. Just got to the web site Elmer Ferrer Band and click on the "mypod" player then click a song and it plays continously. There are also two downloadable songs for free.

Elmer did not use his musicman when we did Fango Dance, it is a mexican start that he paid $300 for with virtual vintage 2.2 pick ups put in. He is a true believer in MM SS, it fits his jazzy/bluesy rock style perfectly, "the best guitar I have ever played" is his direct quote of his mm ss. He bought his first MM in 2005 and shortly afterwards became an endorsee. He would be playing this guitar regardless of the help from MM and Derek. But I am preaching to converted here right?

The EB MM Silhouette Special.(Elmer Ferrer)

In 14 years of professional playing, I have own different brands of guitars, Ibanez, Fender, etc. The Fenders from the USA expensive ones to the cheap Mexican and Japanese. Sometimes the cheap guitars with a few variations were better than the expensive ones. The truth is that I had to modify them all trying to get the best sound and playability, and I never was 100 % satisfied.

With the Silhouette Special, I instantly found the Blues-Rock sound I always looked for in Strats, even more consistent, tuned and balanced.

-The neck is very comfortable and easy to adjust.
-The bridge is the best tremolo I have ever seen. It has the sound of a vintage tremolo, and stays in tune even after you abuse of it.
-The body has perfect balance and is very comfortable.
-I love the head shape. Perfect machine heads and nut.
-The sound of the neck single pickup is great. The Humbucker (mine are HSS) is like the sound of a single but warmer, also perfect for my taste.
-The freshness, elegance, coolness design of all MM guitars. They all have great personality and distinction.

It is a pleasure to play with this guitar: It really shortens the way between the instrument and me, to make music. Thanks EB MM!.

Just a note, Elmer is a very picky guy and if he has this to say about his MM then believe it. He also takes extremely good care of of guitars, gun oil, gun wax and regular cleaning, festidious.
