Does anyone get the Young Guitar (english version) from Japan? They always have the shred dudes on the cover!

Hi eliot. Are you enjoying your ACE? Could you provide some tone similarities between other amps you've owned/heard ?
Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions, I was wondering about leaving the rack amp and coming back to combos...

yeah i get a few issues a year, from ebay, i try and get the ones that come with a dvd, so i can some use out of the mag!!! Shred is just HUGE in Japan, i have several Japanese students, they are like 12 years old and playing Malmsteen and Racer X solos note for note. But they also have 5 yr old brothers who are piano masters too. you can see these shred dudes all over you tube. everyones got an Ibanez RG550.

Really?

Until recently, I was always chosing the UK based Guitar mag over GW.... for some reason, GW all the sudden started having players, and emphasising technique again. A couple of years ago they asked Brian May to do a collumn, but it didn't last very long... at that time, it was the only thing it would ever have worth reading in there. But Guitar would always have players, was thicker, had more lessons, and focussed on more interesting topics. I still think it's better, but I've been grabbing GW because of JP, Paul Gilbert, etc. being talked about again...

The UK mag was also more interesting because it would talk about the early British guitar players in a different light where they were sort of every day guys... I liked reading about Brian May, Dave Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, etc. from thier home country's point of view. That was always nice because they are still the guys that influenced the Vai's, Lukes, and Petruccis of the world, and influenced me before I knew of the shredders and whatnot.

I do buy Guitar every now and again, but since they are now 1/3rd bass it slims down my interest a bit. I find they are just re-hashing the same stories over and over. But, now and again, its ok!
