Col, fantastic Y2Ds.

Ponch, I don't know where you're going to be able to try a Y2D, but they are incredible guitars. And, yes, you must try one!

Man, can you imagine the BFRs (At least the ones in Dargin's BFR teaser thread) with one-piece maple tops?

gosh.. very cool guitar ! i really want to try it, I hope I can find this guitar at the nearest Guitar Center :)

I want to try one too, but Guitar Center near me only has 2 Axis's. Any other EBMM would require a special order, paid in advance.

i wonder how they'd make the Y2D more spectacular for a BFR? pretty awesome as it is!

Agreed. I always thought the Y2D was the precursor to the actual BFR line. They are spectacular to behold. Got to get to play one someday. Man they are pretty!

wouldn't any MM with an upgraded top be considered a precursor? The Y2D is an anniversary of 20 years

I meant in spirit really. I know it's the 20th anniversary - and then there was the 20th Silo - and then all the one-offs we saw being made for employees. It just felt like they were ramping up to the BFR intro. Kind of like a master plan in action.....

I also meant that the Y2D appears to be (at least to me) what a BFR Morse model would be. I mean, what more would you want to do to it? It's awesome the way it is. JMO, of cousre.

hey Colin, which of your Y2D's do you prefer? are they any different to you at all?
they both have different strings on them and that is the only difference in sound. I play them both, but the non matching is the one I reach for first. Not sure which way I'll lean in string choice, I'll have to ask Fred what he had on it first...

Colin,
Would believe that they're the original factory strings?? Had I kept it, I was going to give the neck a once over with 1500 and 2000 sandpaper the oil and wax treatment and then string it up with RPS 10's. That's what I have on all my other guitars.
