I've been looking at those Genz-Benz cabinets. I'm either going to get a G-Flex
2x12 or a Mesa Horizontal 2x12 but I can't decide. Have you tried both? What would you suggest? L-M has the Mesa cabinet for 655$ CDN ( ) and I know I can get 'em on craigslist for around 400$CDN. I saw a G-Flex go on eBay last week for around 300$CDN and they're around 700$ in a store in Toronto... I'm kinda' poor-ish since I have to pay for the head on Tuesday.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. These cabs only, though, unless something else really deserves the attention. ;

Bogner cabs are the best I have owned. The VHT deliverance cab is also very nice.

How does that bad boy sound? What tones do you go for and what speaker etc. ?

Is this a Y cable? I mean, it start as 1 cable and then split for 2?
Or you are using the Music Man Splitter Box(or how it's called)?

Yes, i'm using a Y-cable that i built. It's about 15 feet from the stereo plug at the guitar end to the split point. I made the two mono ends different lengths so they work with my pedalboard setup. One is about a foot long, the other about 2 feet or so.

The cables come into my pedalboard on the right... the shorter end goes to my piezo section on the right, the longer end continues over to my GT-6 on the left.

I have a G-Flex and it's just monstrous sounding. CAD$300 sounds a little low, unless it's in really bad shape.

I've only played a Mesa 2x12 briefly, and i really liked how it sounded too. One thing i really like about the G-Flex is its super-flexible stereo and mono capability.

Yeah, the one on eBay was beat to s***. But I'm mainly interested in the G-Flex 'cause apparently it has a really tight bass response and I can actually get a hold of one relatively close by.

Thanks. Well, I have a pair of these of course, loaded with Celestion V30's. Hard to describe the sound, except I can tell you that you ( or me) can't help but smile when you hear it. With these you know if you record, you get what you hear, as opposed to a 4X12 where you don't know what you're gonna get and have mess around with the mike. Because they're deep, they have a really good bass response. They're also very "musical". It's well suited for a wide range of styles except maybe thrash and that kind of stuff. I like Satch, Luke, E.J., Beck, Landau, Beach etc. (not that I can play like them) you know, good stuff.

I seem to remember you using Marshall's at one point. Did you give up with them?

So i've since sold my Genz Benz G-Flex to 73h Nils (how are you liking it with your Roadster?) and i've downsized my rig somewhat.

I'm now running a Crate PowerBlock 150 watt solid state micro-head (these things sound surprisingly good!) into a Mesa/Boogie Thiele 1x12 loaded with an EVM-12L speaker. It weighs a fraction of what my Peavey Classic 50/50 and G-Flex weighed but still sounds huge. There's nothing like a well-designed ported cab!
