yes, polpar. It has a bit grain. The basswood seems to have NO grain (looked at the prototype pics.

It was just as an example of a transparent finish without maple top.

The OLP is beautiful. Always funny to see, how many pieces are used. 4 ?

Wow, a combined guitar/cutting board? That's awesome! But I guess you couldn't run it through the dishwasher.

You guys are just SO TOTALLY missing the point.
You see, the paint is one of the most IMPORTANT components on the JP guitars.

The paint was specially formulated to withstand the extreme temperatures generated by John's shredding, which has been documented to exceed the temperature of the Sun.
It also has special filters to protect the circuitry from excess radiation when John goes into world domination mode........

It's also a teflon based non-stick finish for when he flicks the switch to KILLZONE mode.... and everyone around him explodes and dies.

No Paint ?......... I don't think so......... John would be MOST unhappy.

;)

My arm just cracked, and I'm going to kill you.

On that note, I'll keep the finish on. Wouldn't want to have to see John time warp so he can play in 68/42 and slice my face open.

But a blank Petrucci would still be cool, just don't tell him it was my idea :)

Good grief... please no one ever sand a JP!!!!!!!!!!!! :( Unless the paint has been damaged, but a perfectly good JP sanded to bare wood... how tragic a thought. lol

I really want a natural JP. If I ever stumble across a screwed up one for cheap, I may be coming your way for you to have some fun with it.
