Hey, I know there are some other owners of the EBMM JPM 7's on this site, just wondering if you could help me out with a couple of problems I'm having.

When I bought the guitar of a friend who barely played it, the bridge was caving in a little bit into the body. So when i decided to change the strings, i just released a bit of pressure on the springs, bringing the bridge back to the regular height.

After finishing with the strings/setting the neck and bridge, I plugged her in and it sounded perfect, UNTIL i went to clean and flicked the peizo on. All the strings were being picked up except the low B.

I then pulled on the tremolo arm, and there it was. I could only hear it when the bridge was pulled in closer to the body, just like when i received the guitar, the bridge was caved in a bit, possibly so the peizo could pick it up.

So i lowered the bridge a bit until I could hear the string clearly, but now everytime i use the tremolo arm, the peizo for that string cuts out everytime I push down.

Are my saddles too high? or has anyone else had this problem?

also, andother problem i'm having, is that the springs in the tremolo are always cracking when i every vibrate/dive with the tremolo arm, coming out very clear.

Right now there are four springs hooked up.

If anyone could help me out with these couple of problems it would be very appreciated. thanks

If you're using anything above a .56 string for the low B, you'll have porblems with your piezo on it.

The springs are noisy, you can just put somthing in the cavity to dampen the noise, some foam or somthing.

thanks guys.

I'll try 9-56 and see if that helps everything.

and what does this foam look like by the way? I've heard of people using it.

You can just stuff whatever fits in there that won't interfere with the springs movment, something along the lines of tissues or some cotton, somthing that'll just absorb the noise.

on of the trick for springs is to use thermoretractable insulation (gaine termaretractable in French, don't know the correct name in English)

that black thing that shrink when heated

I've read on here that the piezo relies on string pressure at the bridge to pick up the signal, so tremolo dips, which take the pressure off, cause it to lose signal.

Someone better informed will be along soon, or better yet contact Customer Services once California wakes up

well that makes sense about the peizos needing pressure.

I put some cloth in the back, and filed the nut down a bit, which got rid of all of the sqeeking, but the peizo is still a problem

+1 on that. I think this is why the Lukes are set with the bridge on the body from the factory (with piezo that is).

Just in terms of spring noise, I've been known to take a thin mousepad, cut it up, and practically weave it through my springs. Do I sound crazy? Yes. But holy mother does it kill the sound, especially the reverberation which usually kills my noisegate.

cool, thanks.

I ripped off a peice of my polish cloth and stuffed it under the springs, and its working great. I think the rest of the nosie im getting is from the nut. It's probably because the strings are too thick and they need to be filed down.

going to 10's should fix the trick though.
thanks for the tips everyone
