Last winter, I met a guy who just moved to the Twin Cities who got a job at Guitar Center. We have really similar interests in music and gear and it was cool to come in and see him working and shoot the breeze. Well today, I bought the most expensive music gear purchase in my entire life. And even though it was the most expensive (especially as a working, college attending, musician) I got a great deal and he made the entire process so painless. Even the financing stuff that I don't really know a whole lot about. I love small guitar stores and I still frequent the ones I always frequent, but I've never made a friend at one, and I've never been treated like a Rock Star when it came to the expensive stuff. But that's exactly what happened.

I was wondering if maybe Uncle Marty or any of you higher ups could find some way to pass down some executive thanks for the kind of work that one of your employees is doing. I don't know that there is an outlet to do this as a customer, and I would feel kind of weird saying so to his manager or something. I just mean that people rarely go out of their way to do good in the world (and you can say money and a job was involved, but being nice about it certainly isn't always part of that equation). If you could say thanks, from me anonymously, it maybe could help his managers better appreciate his work and I'd be very grateful for the opportunity. I only am posting this because I know Marty and some GC top dogs post here from time to time.

I can email you his name and store if you email me at ndleners at gmail.com. If you can help that would be awesome, and thanks.

I know marty is all wrapped up in the sale of guitar center so I dont think that ir is going to be feasible for him to contact this guy but very nice sentiment I think marty has 27,000 employees!

Nice! It's good to hear a positive GC story. If you go to guitarcenterstores.com you can leave feedback about that employee that will at least get to his general manager and district manager.

I'd recommend a note to the store manager. Too many people are prepare to write in a complaint and too few take the time to write in a thank you or great job.

Wow, it must be nice working for such a small company.

Write an actual letter to GC. No one writes letters anymore so if you do, you must've been very pleased with the service. Maybe your sales guy will become the store employee of the month or something.

You feel weird go to his manager in person, but have no problem asking the CEO to do it for you here?

Just go to his manager and say, "Hey dude, so and so did a great job for me. He's top notch in my book."

Hey I get the spirit of the original post but I think that we should make sure that with our access and familiarity with the CEO that we are reasonable in what we ask of him.

I dont want to run him off if he cant do everything that we ask here.....

A letter is an excellent idea. (I wrote one to BP once upon a time.)

Send copies to his store manager and also to corporate offices.

Why not? Everyone likes good news.

I had a great Guitar Center experience about a month ago as well. I got my 4 HH for $50 less than listed on Musicians Friend. The financing was painless and the salesmen and store manager were awesome! It was the Fort Collins, CO store..

I always have a blast at my GSO GC.

I know a lot of the guys there from playing with them through the years and several have been “my guy” at the other stores in town. They all seem happy and like being able to give me a really good deal for a change. I’m going to pick up a couple of keyboard cases the next time I’m close by… which is pretty often.

Thanks to Guitar Center for making this happen. I will say what I said in my email, the fact that Guitar Center is active in the Ernie Ball forums speaks volumes to how 'in-touch' they really are with musicians today.

I had a great experience with the GC in Mobile, Alabama recently.....

Saw a used bass I wanted online.

Made the call.

Spoke to someone named Justin.

Got the bass ordered.

BUT, they accidentally charged my credit card twice!

Called back and solved that, no problem. :)

Got the bass.

And a bonus hardshell case I didn't know was included.

All in all, a good experience!
