For anybody who owns or has spent some time with both the production Luke and the BFR Luke, how do the tones compare?
I haven't bought a BFR, because I didn't feel like the difference in tone would be worth the additional money over the Luke I already own(plus, I'm sure I'll want a BFR AL, or at least a couple more production EBMMs).
But, the construction of the BFR Luke is basically that of the 20th Silo (maple on alder with the MTB), and my 20th has the best tone of any guitar I've ever played. I'm now thinking, man, if the BFR Luke hits you square in the jaw like the 20th, then I'm in the market for one.
Any inputs would be appreciated, especially since I don't have ready access to a BFR Luke I can play for a good amount of time.
I have another (possibly stupid) question for the EBMM team: With the BFRs, was the primary goal to simply to use nicer materials, or was the focus of the effort to make a guitar that sounds different, and arguably better, plus a little fancier-looking? The 20th Silo is pure magic, but it also departed more from the production Silos than the JP and the Luke do (different pickups, for example). It's also less striking than the true BFRs. Was the philosophy the same behind the 20th and the BFRs?
Thanks,
GH
