The body is probably nitrocellulose lacquer. The body wood is most likely Poplar, but it could be Alder or Ash. Sorry - we just don't have any exact dates from that period. As you probably already know, Gavin's website is probably the best resource for that: Home - Musicmanbass.org, Musicman Bass.org, Musicman Bass (This website is not monitored, endorsed, or supported by Ernie Ball Music Man or its employees) Have to throw the disclaimer in there - :p

Dan

Thanks for the info! It's very non-Ash sounding, so could very well be Poplar.

Hi, Dan

When convenient for you...DOB please.

E50854

SR5 H w/piezo, trans red/natural/MHS, white pearloid.

Suspect a production date of early 2006.

TIA

You are most correct! How did you know? ;) - Your bass was completed on 2/07/06 and originally shipped to Imperial Guitar & Sound in Newburgh, New York. Congrads!

Kris, congrads on you new bass! This one left the factory to go to the Bass Place in Tempe on 9/13/07.

Dan

Thanks!

Oh, you know, I never checked on my Trans Red Stingray E04006. I bought it from GC in '98. Got the scoop on that one? Thanks again.

Hi Dan -

Man, you must be the hardest working person at EBMM. BP should give you a raise!

Anyway, I just picked up a Candy Apple Red Bongo 4H. The serial # is F14024. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a Carbon Blue Pearl Sterling 4H coming too. When it gets here I'll be back.

Thanks.

Frankie, congrats on your new-to--you bass. It was built on 3/02/06. Sent to a dealer who is probably best left unnamed. Great bass I bet! We'll see you here when you get your Sterling.

Very cool -

Alex, I believe you have one too many zeroes in your number. If we take one of them out, it appears your bass was completed on 4/24/06.

Congrats on your bass!

I'm looking at a bass on ebay. the seller claims its a 95 but it sure doesnt look it. Plastic battery cover and it has the special oil and wax finish on the neck. though it doe shave a pre 98 neck plate and a serial on the bridge. Which is 56323.
any info would be great!

Even though it has a plastic battery receptor, it could still be a 1995 Bass. Although they appeared on the 20th Anniversary Bass offered in 1996, I think some (maybe all) the 20th Anni's were built in 1995. If that's the case then I suppose it's possible for some other 1995 Basses to have them aswell.

On the other hand, although 56323 would indicate 1995, serial numbers are not necessarily chronological. It could have easily been built and left the factory in 1996 rather than 1995.

Necks finished with gun stock oil and wax were introduced in the early 1990's.
