Hello there.
Well I picked up a bargain at the weekend - Stingray fretless in Blueburst, pretty minty too.
The neck and body are both stamped Dec 1990 with a sticker on one of the pots the same.

So...can I just check it - serial number (on the bridge) 32528....love to know a little history Dan please.

THanks in advance and pics soon

Sure, the production date is January 4 1991. This bass was originally shipped to the UK via our distributor there, Strings & Things Ltd, so it hasn't gone far since then apparently. However, your serial number is showing up as a 2-band EQ StingRay in BlueBurst with a maple neck, not a fretless, leaving one with the conclusion there was a neck swap made ..... probably after it arrived in the UK.

:D

(any and all infos appreciated)

Oliver -

What a Score! This is a NAMM Centennial bass. There were only 100 of these made, all in the first couple months of 2001 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of NAMM. Of the 100, 49 went to various locations overseas, 49 stayed stateside, we kept one and the NAMM folks got one. The finish is Inca Silver and the neck is a Status graphite. Good find!

Erm....its a three band as well..... - Bridge swap? (it has a mutable bridge) because that date does not match to body stamps....

Hi Dan, thanks a lot :D

And it is in pristine condition: The previous owner hardly ever took it out of the case!!! According to the documents, it's #13 out of 100. Just for the records, Kevin informed me per PM that the BOD is

01/30/2001

Did I get that right?

Well, the body / neck / electronics stamps were never meant to pertain to the final production date - they can be off by a few weeks or more, and this bass is well within that. Also, string mutes were in use until 1994 on the StingRay.

The concern here is the bridge. You are absolutely certain of the serial number, correct?

AtomicPunk's SR5 E23456 was finished 5/24/01 and sports a discontinued finish: Gunsmoke

A.J., thanks for looking that up....are you the same AJ that hooked me up with a screw I needed? I have to say big kudos to EBMM Customer Service, thank you!! After dealing with Rickenbacker all these years.....vive la difference!!

There's a pic of it now on my avatar, and I am totally loving it.

Got a new one to add to the list:

'95 Sterling Bass in HoneyBurst: serial #48530

Gav, I'll send this info (and a pic) over to the MM Site when I get a good outdoor shot.

Thanks!

Shamu,

What a gorgeous bass! It looks like it's never been played. It was completed on 02/14/96.
