Serial Numbers : What is the production date of my guitar?

Found a gem (I hope) on Ebay. Seller couldn't tell me the serial, because it's in storage on a different location.

From the picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/promt/MM_AxisSS_asb_maple_NT/DSC00391.jpg) I'm guessing the serial is
G28254.

Does this lead to a SS HH fixed bridge cherry with mathing headstock?

So, Guyz and girls, I have a new guitar and it's ... an EBMM (that was really hard to guess, I suppose)

Its serial number is g34501 - I'd be very lucky to get a birthdate (and some more info on it, if possible - where it was originally shipped to, etc)

G27611 - completed on 3/09/05
X12689 - 1/27/05

Both of these were sent to Long & McQuade in Canada.


DK, your Silhouette 20th was completed on 01/03/07 and shipped to Grand Central Music in Duluth, Minnesota.


barto, your new-to-you Silhouette with the Floyd Rose tremolo is a Natural finish completed on 12/10/93 and shipped to the old Rhythm City store in Atlanta, Georgia (now a GC).


Meedley, your Axis SuperSport's production date is 8/02/06.

#90845 was completed 10/28/91 and shipped to Ed's Guitars in Miami, Florida, long out of business.

#90698 was completed on 08/03/90 and was shipped to our German distributor, Musik Meyer.

#93202 was completed on 01/23/92 and was also shipped to our German distributor.

DK, I have both, but I tend to play my StingRay 5 the most, maybe because that one has the piezo bridge.

Oh well, a piezo is a neat toy, isn't it, and a piezo on a gorgeous bass is even more exciting.
But then again, I'd need a completely different setup to play a piezo-equipped MM guitar...

Welcome!

Unfortunately, we can't get you an exact date on this one. As I have mentioned in other posts, the earliest Silhouette serial numbers were not kept track of well and many times the same serial numbers were used again on the Edward Van Halen guitars, and unfortunately, that is the case with yours. Sorry I can't be more specific other than to state that your guitar was most likely made around 1987-88.
