GuitarHack, I think the main issue is jealousy.

I'm not going to lie! I'm a little a jealous, myself! I'm sure everyone that sees this man's collection feels it at least a little bit!

Some people(like Sam) get bitter about these things. From what I've read, he's not just collecting them like they're furniture, he's a player. But, even if he did.. that's no one's business but his own.

Sam, you may understand it, but still not get it. It's not up to any of us to decide how many guitars are appropriate for someone else, is it? You seem to have a number in mind. Is it two? Seven? Or do you just know "too many" when you see it?

BTW, I have 11 Musicman guitars, and just ordered my 12th yesterday (this is still legal to do in my country

). My WIFE - along with the good folks on this forum - helped me select the color. This may upset you, that's fine, but realize you came to a forum all about EBMM guitars, and you gotta expect most folks have a "more is better" view on the subject. Most folks here are happy for me, like I am happy for them.

Don't make assumptions about peoples finances or marriages...just enjoy the pictures!

Sam Lets back off the high rocking horse. You have made your point and are really out of line making comments about his level of affection for his wife.

Ernie has worked hard and enjoys collecting Petruccis. Ive bought stock that has perfomed worse!

There are some Red China forums that would make you a moderator.

I'm not posting to initaite an arguement so lets just discuss.

I registered to find the DOB of my newly aquired 2nd hand EBMM JP7. It's my only one and will probably be the only one for many years to come. This is because EBMM guitars are very expensive (justifiably so) and affording them with today's cost of living is difficult for most of us.

Now I really appreciate those of you on here who have worked endless hours and overtime shifts to be able to start a small collection...that's great!!
But this assembly has crossed the line far into obsession.

I'll admit that at the top of the post I was jealous, but as I scrolled down and more and more flew by, I was shocked.

I feel that when somebody publically displays a collection like that, it deserves some justification because I, as a regular working guy, wants to understand it.

The net investment must be bordering $100,000.00 - which is more than the cost of a house - and while the majority of people in the US are struggling to pay increasing mortgages, those 43 guitars are gathering dust.

I think that is a fantastic collection!
I only have 1 EBMM (for now) but I can honestly say if I had the disposable income to afford that collection, I would probably do the same. How cool would that be to have to decide which guitar among that collection to play when I walked in to my guitar room? Keep on rockin' Ernie!

WOW, where the hell did this come from, ernie has a great collection and is a player, JP even said damn you own more than I do why do you care, yes some may collect dust but then again he has a great investment, better than the currrent market, really dumb response to an old post.

OK, that's fine. But I stand by my opinion and will happily duke it out with Ernie too.

I wish I could put pictures up!! I got the guitar UPS on Tuesday and while it is in tip-top condition (D.O.B. 2005) the strings were oxidized to the point of being unplayable. So I went over to GC and they only had Slinky's in 10's not 9's.
I had to resort to buying them online and I'm still awaiting them so I can re-string and take pictures. I'll be sure to post them as soon as I can!!

The worst part is I still haven't been able to play it and I'm just dying to try out The Glass Prison/This Dying Soul.
This is not only my first EBMM, but also my first 7 string.
