Ok after a lot of picture searching and such on the forum and on the web-A-verse I want to ask a few questions to see if I have something straight.

Stingray 4 string Non-beveled horns
Stingray 5 string - Beveled horns (like on a silo and JP guitar)
Sterling 4 string - Non-beveled horns
Is this correct so far? Have the SR5's always had beveled horns? If not, which year did it start?

Sterling 5 string (not out yet I know) will it have the same beveled horns as the Stingray 5?

Any informed persons input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let me throw in another question:

In what year was the "wheel" adjustment on the truss rod appear? (which is one of my favorite features).

The SUB 5's are non-beveled as well. Also, no body cutaways.

the sub 5 has the same pickguard too, basically exactly the same as the sub 4 but with an extra string.... unlike the SR

I believe that was 1990. Check Rod's excellent site

Thanks for the link.

Now on to the Sterling 5 question, beveles or no? Not an opinion pool. Just curious if it will have them.

SUBS? I didn't mention no SUBS LOL.

My guess is no, probably not...but who knows. It would be a curve-ball.

We're all kind of curious about the Sterling 5, and although I think it will be released at NAMM,Sterling might drop a few hints here and there. So far he's been kind of tight lipped, except for saying (sort of) that the Sterling 5 will probably have a slimmer neck than the SR5. If he means tighter at the nut or with less meat is anybodys' guess, but I put a dime on narrower nut.
What he asid was actually along the lines of S being kind of a P, and Sterling ebing more J-like.
As for bevels, who knows?

I've certainly been known to subscribe to this outlook.

I have no inside info on the Sterling 5 but the Sterling 4 doesn't have bevels, so there's really no reason to think the fiver would.

Jack

Far as I can find the Stingray 4 does not have the beveles either...but the 5 does. Maybe it's a 5 string thing, who knows.
I want it to have the bevels, seems sexy to me.
I'm just going to sit tight and see what happens.

As for the 20th SR, it didn't do it for me color wise and I prefer the narrower spacing of the Sterling. (dont flame me on the color comment, it's an eye thing).
Now that 30th anniv. SR...whoohoo now that's a beauty.
