Manzo, welcome! your StingRay was completed on Dec 8 2005 - but our records show that it had a maple fretboard when it left the factory. You say you bought it used - seems the neck was swapped out somewhere along the way. It was originally shipped to Italy (Mogar Music Distribution).

Hey Dan... I found an SR5 at a local store and was wondering the age. It's Sunburst with Matching Headstock and Maple neck. The SN is E08647

It looks like this:

I'm told it once looked like this:

150-71-11-02.gif

Phil, this bass was completed on 6/18/99, was shipped to Shomaker Guitars in Burlington, NC. It indeed was originally shipped with a white pickguard. Nice pics! ;)

No Serial Number

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on something...

I'm a guitarist who has recently picked up a bass at auction with a headstock that says 'Musicman Stingray.' There's no serial number on the headstock, nor is there a plate on the back of the body with any kind of markings. I'm just wondering whether it might be some kind of knock off, or perhaps a pre Ernie Ball model. I can't seem to get my photos loaded onto the forum, but if anyone has any thoughts and would like to seem them I could e-mail them over. Thanks in advance.

cheers,
T.

Dan,

I'm really supid! Sorry to mess you up! I relied on my notebook remarks about serial number which were wrong. I just re-checked the number upon the plate and it is E40573. It's matching headstock (glamorous red:) I don't know the colour code, solid maple neck,5 string,w/piezo. Can you check it again, please? Thanks, man!

romk,

Now THAT totally jives with our information. Thanks for re-checking that. :D As I suspected, your bass has a Lava Pearl finish, of course a piezo bridge and a matching headstock. The completion date on this one is May 6, 2004. It was shipped to our Russian distributor in Moscow, Grand Mystery. Nice!

Another Mystery solved .. so to speak

T.,

Some questions for you: How many screws hold the neck plate on? 3, 4, or 6? (My guess would be 3) Also - have you looked at the bridge? There should be a serial number there, and if so, it will probably be one letter and 6 digits, like "B001261". Also - does Ernie Ball appear on the headstock? I sort of doubt it.

This may be an early Music Man prototype indeed.

By all means, pics, please! :D

Hi Dan,

You're right - it doesn't say Ernie Ball on the headstock. There are 4 screws and no markings at all on the bridge. The finish on the guitar does look quite new so somehow I doubt it's that old...but I could be wrong. I just can't seem to get my photo files small enough to upload here, is there an e-mail address I could send them to you on? Thanks for your help.

cheers,

T.

Hello, please forgive me first off for e-mailing customer service about the serial number of the NAMM bass on ebay right now. I actually forgot this thread was here.

Can someone please provide me with some history regarding NAMM anniv. bass B011879?

Thanks for any history and help you can lend with this. The seller has lost the original paperwork that came with this bass, that is why I am asking.
