This Tone Block thing has been around for AGES before EBMM used them.

A mate of mine had a Samick with one......... it blocked anything that resembled tone. :D :D

Line 6 have them in their amps too !!

Oh, you mean the Mahogany thing.......... :p

What difference does fret size make? Medium, jumbo, etc.

And why does Dizzy fling poo?

:eek::eek::eek:

Deep inside the body of your guitar is a patent pending Absolut Vodka shaped piece of Mahoganny that is the tone block.

Got pics??? :D

reason I asked is because when I put the 20th through the X-Ray at Narita Airport on my way home, I saw a reddish chunk of wood which could only be the tone block. But it wasn't bottleshaped. It was more like a semi-circle, and it was the ass-end of the body. The maple and the alder was also visible, but they had a lighter colour through the screen. The huge chunk looks like nothing else other than a toneblock, but it wasn't connected to the neck either...

I've had the same 9-Volt in my JP6 since August of 2006, and I play it at least an hour everyday through the mono output.... hasn't died yet! I check it every now and again to see if it looks like it's going to leak or something, but it's still fine!

Stupid guitar related questions?

I have been asked the following since I got my first Ball:

Do you really need such a big case for such a small guitar?

Dude, that guitar looks small but sounds huge - how come?

Why do you laugh when people say
Balls?

How can that be a good guitar - it isn't from any of the big names?

there are others .... some of which I have asked but won't repeat 'cause they were really, really stooo-pid:):cool:

cheers y'all

Joel

You have no idea how many times I've had similar questions asked of me. My old band was thrash/death metal and every band we played with was Jackson, ESP/LTD, Ibanez, etc and most of it was the low-end stuff. Guys who couldn't tune their own guitars had the audacity to doubt my Balls. Well, I made a fine case for Balls in metal is all I'm saying. Seems pretty obvious to me. Balls. Metal. Balls = Metal. Metal = Balls.

So my realtive contribution to the topic is...

Why so few Balls in metal?

OR, given the time of year we are at, buy her something lovely (jewels work well) and then she will be more than keen for you to buy yourself something nice :D I believe there are plenty of peeps on the forum who work on the "one gift for you, one Ball for me" principle!

fsmith put this into practice at Desert Domination. :D

Are the single coil equipped EBMMs (Sil Special, AL) affected by stratitis (string pull from the slug magnet pole pieces)?

I didn't notice any obvious signs of it when I tried a Silo Special a few weeks ago.

I think ANY guitar, even the humbuckers would have this problem if the pickups are too close. I had to bring my hums down for the 20th as well, because they were too close. I wonder how that happenned...
