Keep the Lester and save up for another ball. Slash is a great guitar player!

Words of a very wise man.cheers Tim.

slash was one of the main reasons i picked up a guitar first day when i was 12 so i would be betraying him if i sold the Lester as you call it:)

its apity you cant make the bash in june tim,im hoping to get across the river to london to attend the knucklehead bash.;)

colin, I'm with darchirnoj on this one. Keep the LP and save for a new Ball. I've had my LP Custom for 25 years and would never get rid of it. It gets better with age! I've thought about using it to fund a new Ball, but quickly dismissed the notion. I'm saving up for my next purchase and am happy to keep the LP.

Hmmm.....LP Custom, 25 years. Is it truly an '83 or did you buy it used? Does it have tuning cranks? I have an '81, and I have yet to see another one with tuning cranks. Just wondering how long they lasted. They were a great idea....although not needed now that we have locking tuners.

Ok, so that was not only a hijack, but a non-EBMM hijack. Back to the topic...

Mike, I did get my '79 LP Custom used in 1982 (guess that makes it 26 years in my possession - I'm still in '07 mode). No, it doesn't have the flip-out crank tuners. I'd like to see a pic of those! How about flip-outs on EBMMs???

The flip outs were a cool idea for the time (I'll PM you some pics this weekend), but we don't need them anymore now that we have locking tuners! I'd take my EBMM locking setup over the fancy crank any day. It's just SOOOO easy to change strings now!

Hmmmm.....I wonder if EBMM thought of that. Make it easy to change strings = strings get changed more often = more strings sold!

From a purely technical side, the LP is a dinosaur that's been extinct for a long time and just doesn't know it. My Gibson stays under the bed and never gets touched because I think the company's business antics are downright evil (they screwed and lied to us at every opportunity). Actually, the Gibson is my wife's which is why it hasn't been sold.

The Music Man in every aspect is a superior instrument. The company is a joy to deal with, the customer service is wonderful, the manufacturing process is flawless and they are INFINTITELY easier to setup.

That being said, if you have an emotional attachment I'd just loosen the tight things, store or hang it and buy a Ball. :)
