A while ago a lot of people swore by their Hercules Stand. I can only get one on line, and I've seen some negative reviews regarding them taking the finish off the bass and the foam wearing thin.
I don't want to mar the finish (not without a good battle story behind it :) ) and was wondering how your stands were holding up. (No pun intended!)

Thanks, everyone!

I use the triple stand for two or three basses. Had it for past two years, though it only sees a handful of gigs a year.

No complaints.

I have 2 Hercules stands and 4 Ultimate stands. No problems with either. I did own a crome hamilton stand years ago where the rubber on the neck holder wore out and scratched a few headstocks.

I would be willing to bet the people with marred finishes kept their basses on the stand in hot or humid environments. I have heard that nitrocellulose finishes should not be used with the foam on a lot of stands due to the possibility of finish damage. My ESP 6er is a nitrocellulose finish. I have not used it with the Herc stand because the neck will not fit in the cradle. But I have used a different stand with the same foam on it and have never seen any damage. Of course the bass is only in the stand when it's not getting played during a gig/service...other than that the bass is in it's case.

I use the hercules wall hanger (same mechanism as the stand) i've been using it for well over a year now i think and it's fine, The foam is fine and the mechanism still works (though it might be a little loose)

I've had a Herc for about a year now, and no real complaints

I have the GS402B

Very portable, yet very heavy-duty

The only gripe is that the little hook that the body sits on is close to the bass boost knob. Luckily, the hook is adjustable, so you can swing it in between the bridge and knob

So far, no sign of the foam wearing or the finish being impacted

How does that small stand hold up to a heavy SR5 I wonder.
My Blue Dawn weighs almost 12 pounds and I would worry that it would tip. :(

I wouldn't worry...if your blue dawn weighs 12 pounds it's probably in the body which would actually help keep it from tipping...unless you somehow ended up with a really dense headstock.
