Hi, I'm also new to the forum. Wanted to know any information you had on a stingray 5 # E59352- mostly curious as to what wood was used for it- thanks!

bajoman, welcome to the Forum also! All StingRay 4's & 5's, as well as all Sterlings, have used Southern Ash for the the past several years. Yours, being no exception, was completed on 4/12/07 and was shipped to East Coast Music Mall in Danbury, CT. The finish is Pacific Blueburst. Congratulations! :D

Dan.

5/19/92 Trans Red rosewood - shipped to the old E U Wurlitzer Company, long OOB. Nice!

Dan

Thanks, Dan! Couldn't remember when I actually bought the beauty. I love the Trans Red finish. It's been rockin' hard for 16 years!

Josh, a sidenote on your bass - it was made at a time where we used different bodywoods based on the color of the instrument - and yours, being Trans Red, would be made of Alder. In case you were wondering - ;)

causer, welcome to the Forum! Your Sterling bass was originally shipped with a maple fingerboard and was completed on 10/19/99 and was originally shipped to Austraila - sounds like a nice bass -

Wow 2 new Forum members - I am lovin' it!

Bruno, congratulations on your new (to you) bass - it was built on Apr 27 2001 and was shipped to Portugal originally. It has a Gunsmoke finish, a rosewood fretboard and should have a black pearoid pickguard.

Kermit, congratulations to you also - your bass was completed on Febr 12 2002 and is a Translucent Orange finish, rosewood fretboard and a white pearloid pickguard. Originally was indeed shipped to the U.K.

Welcome to both of you! :D:D:D

Sorry, Kermit, I rechecked and it originally did have a rosewood neck - do you want to recheck the serial number? Otherwise, there must have been a "neck swap" at the store or at the distributor, who in this case was Strings & Things Ltd. in the U.K. You might check with them (NOTE: This is a major reason why we discourage this sort of thing ).

Hi Dan,

a fantastic beauty arrived today: Stingray 4, 2-eq, silver sparkle with matching headstock, rosewood, black perloid pickguard and string thru body bridge.

Edit: S/N: E25909

Could you please give me some information and the date of birth of this bass? Is this a limited edition (because of the STB)?

Thanks
Thilo

Thilo, We did a limited run of these, a sort of special order, for our German Distributor, Musik Meyer, in 2001. There were 10 done in this finish on that order. Yours was completed on October 30th.
