All SR5s made from around 1992 to 2007 had ceramic pickups (except the 20th anniversary SR5). SR5s made before around 1992 had alnico pickups. All new (2008) SR5s will have alnico pickups. The preamps for SR5s with ceramic pickups are different than the preamps for SR5s with alnico pickups.
Ok thanks. Now I understand. What do you think, if l'll change oryginal ceramic pickup to Seymour Duncan SMB-5a with alnico 5 magnets and save the oryginal preamp (for ceramic pickup dedicated) the sound of my bass will be good or not?

Discussion of aftermarket equipment is generally frowned upon here, but the prevailing opinion has been that most of the aftermarket pickups for EBMM basses tend to "sterilize" or "dumb-down" the sound. The preamp in your SR5 is specifically designed to sound good with the EBMM ceramic pickup(s).

Ok, so what can you tell me about SR5 made with alnico 5 or ceramique pickups? They have the same preamp onboard mounted in?
Now I'll waiting for Dan's opinion about type of magnet rods in my pickup (if he will coming soon).;)

mynan, you are exactly right, just wanted to claify that we started with ceramic magnets in early 1991 (not sure of month) and we just this month (!) went back over to alnico magnets, March 2008. thanks!

Patapock

patapock, welcome! ~ your bass was completed on March 26, 1992 and was originally shipped to your country. The finish is Translucent Red, which means the body is made of Alder. It sports a 2-band EQ and a rosewood fretboard. ;) nice
