you guys are like a bunch o stand up comics playing off each other.

well, yah it's the 2007 inlay. I have a theatre show to do where the band will be on stage. Both my AL and JP will be the main weapons. But I'm afraid that 2007 will sort of stick out. I want to cover it up temporarily.

You must be an excellent guitarist. I presume you have mastered it.
Your band must be one of the greatest ever.

Why would I assume this ? Because you are about to do a theater show and the thing that you are "afraid" of most is that the 2007 will stick out?
Your probably right. I bet the whole audience will stand, point, and laugh. Seriously how could that stick out more that the freakish shape of the AL ?

C'mon. A day after the show most people that saw the show won't be able to tell you what color your guitar was. Step five feet away from that guitar and you cant make the inlay out.

There's an inlay on the 2007 LE's!?

Humph, I guess there is. I'll be damned.

Dude,
My advice would be to let it go. But I would be interested in hearing how many people comment on it after the show.

If it's really a concern, you could try some contact paper. I think some hardware stores, or maybe Walmart, sell sticky paper, used to line drawer bottoms or shelves in cabinets, and sometimes you can find it in faux wood patterns. You might be able to find it in both dark, for rosewood, or a light color for maple.

You might want to consider that having that inlay "stick out" might be a good thing! That is a limited edition guitar after all, and drawing attention to it in may add to the memorability factor of your performance. Just a thought.

Good luck with your show.

tough crowd!

since its a "sci fi" musical (old flash gordon style period stuff) I figured, YES the 2007 thingy would be very visible. Think of it as a costume for the guitar. Actually, the AL will look PERFECT. very sci-fi shape.

i dont even notice it on my LE 07 AL.

That's a good point Rob. If you are seeing the inlay on the 12th fret, then you are probably holding your guitar in an improper position. Start standing up. That will break the tilting habit.

Glad to help!! :D:D

If it was the JP inlay I'd suggest making it look like JC.

2007, hmm... maybe make it 0000.

Or, use another guitar? I kinda like the barre chord idea too.

Ach I wouldn't worry.
The punters know they haven't been transported through space and time.
Its certainly not worth vandalising your beautiful guitar for it. Maybe move around a bit ;)

Just shut up and play the guitar as mr lifeson wife would say ;)

Just a musicman

What about tape of some sort? Electrical tape would black it out but might leave a residue. Perhaps gaffers tape? The silvery color would add to the sci-fi element!
