finally my own EBMM stingray!

been lurking here for some time now. was always a guitarist in a thrash metal band. However I just started up this thing that started as a project with an old buddy of mine (www.myspace.com/thrashcorefanatics). We decided 2 months ago we should make it a proper band, and since we don;t like too many people in a bandsituation it would be best to keep it a threepiece. SO it was much easier to find a guitarist (there's just sooo many of them out there) and me switching to bass and vocals since I basically played the bass on our demo anyway.

All cool with me, I always liked to play bass so. I have a pretty nice USA Jackson JJ bass now, with maple unfinished neck and a Duncan Basslines MM style humbucker. It's a really cool bass and plays nice, but it's a med scale (32") plus I remember an old bassist from a previous band used to have a stingray bass and it sounding absolutely incredible, so I got some GAS!

My GAS only got worse when I saw the 2007 LE blue dawn model, my god especially with a maple fretboard it has to be the sexiest bass ever made. I have a lot of custom made USA DEAN guitars at home and quite a few of them are blueburst/ trans blueburst so I was always fascinated by that paint scheme. So I worked out a pretty good deal on a new one from a dealer and now I just have to sit and wait til it arives in The Netherlands....oh the fact that the dollar is ....eh, well let's say pretty beneficial for us also helped of course.

You seem to have a very nice collection ;-), I am fine with 4 strings and 1 pickup though...

If you have a 5-string, can you tune to E-A-D-G-B instead of the low tuning B-E-A-D-G?

Well thanks! I love my balls. I tune using the traditional B-E-A-D-G, but I have heard others who use the latter.

So it won't mess up your necks intonation too much if you use the higher tension "standard" E tuning. Well maybe I'll think about a 5 string in the future then.

I'm sure others will chime in, but I would guess a truss adjustment might be needed. Not too worry though, as balls are SO easy to adjust. (hmmmm that didn;t sound right...)
