Mesavox - I'm gutted to hear what happened and hope that everything works out ok.

I would recommend that apart from the guitar that you are using any spare guitar should be kept in it's case rather than on a "hey look how many guitars I got" stand.
I cringe when I see some of the incidents/potential incidents with gear.
The thing is - with an EB guitar you know that when you take it out of the case it will prolly be in tune!!

The bad part is... it's the guitar that I was playing. The mic stand fell on me, hit me in the head and bounced off and hit the guitar. After the guy picked himself up off the floor, and I confusedly repositioned my monitor and mic stand... we started the song and it was about halfway through before the pure what the crap started wearing off. I looked over at him several times and the guy kept wobbling around like a bobble head doll. There was one guy over by him that if he bumped into him again was going to beat the crap out of him.

Not trying to be anything other than helpful here, but if you're going to play out with expensive instruments, you NEED to have them insured. Musical instrument insurance is cheap. I can insure about $25,000 worth of music equipment and guitars for a year for what the neck repair will cost you. I use Clarion. Google them.

"never play a trumpet into a mic with drunk people around"

So, we had a club gig Saturday and everything is going fine and all the sudden I hear this loud crashing sound. Turns out this disappointingly familiar fellow has fallen off his stool and over the sub, onto my monitor knocking my mic stand over onto me and thus... onto the guitar. Everything seems fine. But, it's been finals week and I didn't get the guitar out of the case this week. Bad guitar player, I know... but... I had four finals to study for and three papers to write.

So, yesterday our choir does a fundraiser and I'm asked to play guitar. I get it out to look it over and I feel something I've never felt before..."WHAT?!!!?? A dislodged fret?!?!?!!" I frantically take a look and no... not a burred fret, a centimeter in diameter chip down to the fretboard wood on the top of the neck... and another huge dent next to it..... "This is impossible.. I have not let this guitar out of my sight since I got it...!!!" I check the case to see if something was loose in there and to look for chips of paint and wood... nothing.
"What the he.... Oh crap!!!"

So yeah, the bass player for a signed band is so drunk he can't sit on his stool and after a quick call to customer service, I realize he's just cost me 400 dollars plus shipping.

I won't say his name lest he be willing to pay for this... or maybe his label???... but when I get a hold of him, he's going to know I'm not happy.

The thing that makes me mad is... this is one of the few that the purple matches on the headstock. It's perfect. Now, they're doing the black and I've lost this very fortunate situation. :(

I know they can't, but I wish they could send me the neck back so I can hang it on the wall with a plaque... "This is your guitar on booze."
They should send you back the original neck if you want. After all it is yours, not theirs. Tell them you want it back. I'm sure they are more than happy to oblige.

That's terrible!! I would be beside myself too. But don't worry - EB's CS will hook you up. Sorry it is costing you $400 though...

Not always. I had a pickup replaced last month and they didn't send the original back despite me asking for it. They said there was some proprietary issues with the PU (it wasn't made by MusicMan). Maybe the neck would be different. Guess you have to ask to find out.

EBMM doesn't want the market flooded with their parts, so they'll only do an exchange for the original. If you want a new neck, they get to keep the old one.

To the OP- sorry to hear about the accident. But are you sure you want to replace the neck? If it still plays well but it's got a cosmetic issue, why not keep it as is? You can always replace it down the road if you want.
