for the guitars we started with just one color choice per model. what you see in the brochure is what is available. the basses have more color options. in the future we will offer more model options and colors.
keep the suggestions coming. its all info we will use when we decide to add more colors etc.

Thanks

Rverse Headstock!

How about we try to resurect the campaign for the Reverse headstock option!?

Just Kidding ;)

A Silhouette Special guitar would be cool. Im sure there are plenty of players that really only get on with 22 fret neck. I'm sure if the range is a great as we hope it is, then we'll get more models?

Anyway, good luck with this Pat- even though the economic climate looks quite bad (especially here in the UK!) if you produce some great guitars you'll make a real success with these.

I can't wait to try (read: buy) one of these

I'll second that statement. I would buy it in a heartbeat. :)

As for the whole lefty argument, here's my two cents:

It would be prudent for there to be an offering of all the same left handed instruments that Music Man offers. That way these Sterling instruments could be seen as the first level on a graduated scale. You know... start out with a JP50 and then when talent and/or finances allow, move up to the JP6. Same with an AX20/Axis Super Sport, the potential Silhouette Special and whatever basses are offered left handed in the MM line.

That way, if a person were to purchase a left handed Sterling instrument, they could feel comforted knowing that when they wished to move up the instrument ladder, they could without having to change their instrument of choice... in a sense.

That's my two cents.

1. Is the trem on the Sterling Axis a direct swap for the trem on the EB Axis? Or would routing be involved?

2. Who is making the Pickups for these guitars? And how close are they to the ones in the EBMMs?

3. Colors! Are there going to be more than the 1 or 2 that were listed in the PDF file catalog?

Thanks!

I'm I the only one who thinks it's probably a bad idea to be asking for models and colors at this point?

1- the trem is not sitting in a recessed route. its on top of the body and only lowers the pitch. I do not think the stud spacing is the same, so its probably not a direct swap. Tomorrow morning when I return to the factory and I'll see if it can be dropped in. My gut reaction (without checking) is it won't be direct swap.

2-The pickups are made by us, not exactly like the EBMM's. They do sound good and are a little on the hot side, but not mushy or crappy.

3- the guitars come in just the colors you see in the brochure. More options and colors will come.

Please keep the suggestions and ideas coming. Our first step is getting these launched and into the stores. new colors and models will of course come later in the year. After we compile a list, we go over everything w/ Sterling and Dudley and once they agree on it we'll put it into action. I can't guarantee we'll do everything ( I don't see Pink Pat happening right away, but who knows?) but there are some things we're seeing repeat requests for, so we cannot ignore those.

I am in Indonesia right now. Spent the day at the factory and all is looking very good. I have 3 more days at the factory then fly back this weekend.

Thanks for everyones support. I am totally stoked to be doing this and appreciate everyones kind words.

Thanks
Pat

it all boils down to this:
if there is enough demand for it and if we can actually sell enough of them to make it worthwhile. The cost of tooling up new parts, new cnc drawings, etc is very expensive. We'd have to see that there is enough demand to justify all of it. I do think we should do some lefty models, but its going to be the models we think we can sell alot of - i.e. the more mainstream sellers would be the logical choice.

I think lefty's should get access to great instruments too. After all, some of the greatest players were lefties.

no problem with asking. keep em coming.
just try not to get too crazy with the suggestions. I don't see us doing 14 string sitars. But who knows . . .? :D

As you said Pat about the "Pat Pink" lol

I have to say though that if your Axis is a good guitar and it came in pink with a some nice tops it would sell a fair amount!
The amount of Axis/EVH folk I know who lust after a pink EVH is scary lol

I almost bought an Axis EX from Japan because it came in pink.
However if not... Big Poppa please a offer a BFR Axis or something in pink!!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the demand for pink EVH/Axis guitars is so high because there were so few made....not because so many people want a pink guitar, haha.

I'm not even sure if any pink Axii were made, were they?

And another yes! :D

I think now that the EBMM JP is available left handed, it will become a huge seller. I know I'm gonna buy a bunch!

Hey Kids....

You are spoiled. Please understand that these guys have to hit the ground running and you have to expect that it will be more limited than the 120,000 choices that I offer that still leaves you unsatisfied....

Be patiend and understand that P{ink axis nedver sold. Same with solid black and gold tops...they are worth more because they were failures and therefore scarce
