I'm working on some new originals.
So we became The Originals. And we had to change our name actually.... there was another group in the east end called 'The Originals' and we had to rename ourselves. 'The New Originals'. and then, uh, they became.... 'The Regulars', they changed their name back to 'The Regulars' and we thought well, we could go back to 'The Originals' but what's the point?
If???
Wtf, you're a total kick ass bass player, I'm confident you'll have the gig in no time! If I was a drummer, I'd want you (or Ben Alsup) in my band!
we've been working on designing new
T-shirts for the band. We just got them ordered this week and they'll be in next Friday. Here's what they look like, what do yall think?

Shirts are white. Seems like everyone does the typical "black" t shirt thing, and we wanted to be different. Plus they cost less, so we charge less to our fans.I like it. Depending on the colour of the shirt, I might even want one...
Well, you could have trumped them by calling yourselves 'The Original Originals.' Then they could have called themselves 'The Real Originals' and you could have responded to that with 'No, WE'RE The Originals, Dammit!'
And so on.
It's like the legendary Ray's Pizza in NYC. There are LOTS AND LOTS of them now...all slight variations on the name. Original Ray's, Famous Ray's, etc. At this point few people actually know which one is the real one, or even if it still exists.
Best band name I've seen recently:
The The Band Band
There you go. You know exactly what they're all about right up front.
Starting to play with some guys from work. First 2 songs: Ziggy Stardust and Sunday Papers (Joe Jackson). The Jackson tune is one I wasn't familiar with - fun bass line. Thoughts on getting that tone (the studio version), you guys? The first thing that comes to my mind is position 5/neck H on an SR4HH. Or the "p killer" tone I've heard on the 25th HSS samples.
People always ask what I used when I made the first Joe Jackson albums back in the dark ages: first off, a 1970s Ibanez Silver Series bass (a fairly inexpensive Jazz Bass knockoff with P /J pickups). I played it, strung with Rotosound flatwounds, often using a pick, through a Fender Bassman 135, and matching Bassman 4x12 cabinet - this is still one of the best bass rigs I ever used and wish I still had it. Back then I was not afraid to turn up the treble, and that accompanied by the producer and Joe’s artistic decision to push the bass upfront as the featured instrument (no guitar solos) led to that distinctive bass sound.
