FWIW a mom and pop store said they tried coated bass strings and they didn't sell so they are not going to get the coated Slinkies. :(

I believe these new coated strings are the same scale length as all the other mainstream EBMM bass strings.

Looking forward to try them on my basses.

Thanks for the reply about scale length. But what scale are the eb strings? Longer than standard long scale, 34"?

thanks,

The Coated Slinky Bass strings sound and feel fantastic! Start asking your local dealers for them!!! If the demand is there, the supply will follow!!!

I've had the coated strings (45-130) on Heinz for a couple days, and here are the impressions:
Apart from a slightly different sheen and a slight sense of unstickyness (they feel a little different to the touch, but it's only really noticeable when "fondling" the bass), they feel just like normal strings. They sound like normal strings too, which is a good thing.

Now if they just last they'll be a big hit I'm sure.

Local GC had sets of coated but only the standard Slinky not the Hybrid.

Grabbed a set and need to decide what they will go on. Very likely the Sabre.

That is strange lowmid, this is the first time someone has come up with this issue, so far a lot of forumites had these strings and not experienced this problem,

I remember clearly that BP mentioned that he sent sets of these strings to endoreser artists for them to test and feedback before actually putting them on sale worldwide, the very fact that they are now on sale means the result of the artists test was thumbs up all around.

Can I ask you out of curiosity, if you have inserted the tip of the string inside the peg before winding it around the peg?

Sounds to me like you probably need to discuss this with Customer Service.

Good luck and please report back, I am interested to hear what caused this.

Cheers
