Ouch! Havent watched that one for a while, I should do a better demo soon! Maybe one with more rhythm stuff, soloing isnt everything! But it does have that nice neck pickup tone that I like, its such a quality guitar. Even though Albert plays country the AL model is so much more than that, but then again so is a telecaster too- great neck pickup tones on a tele.

That vid sold me on MM90s Rob. I play in a band with horns that does soul/r&b and they really do the trick for me. You've got some good hybrid pickin' and poppin' going on. I wish my country chops were as good as yours.

Well i'm mighty happy you bought a nice AL! I was sold on a MM90 Al when I saw a grainy you tube vid of a guy playing a Brad Paisley solo, it had just the tone I was after. It was quite a nice surprise when I got one and found all the other great tones the AL offers.

Nice volume swells. B.B. is jealous. Seriouly, all those videos do a nice job of demonstrating the AL's tones and versatility.

Could someone tell me the differences between having the AL compared to the SS? Both loaded with single coils......This thread is really making me think hard on the AL.......

I'll echo the posts Lionel (Whitestrat) and Rob made on page 1 of this thread (posts #2 and #3 to be exact):

The AL is your ash body/maple fingerboard early 50s Strat tone - more bright, brassy/bell like. The Silo Special is your alder-body 60s Strat tone - a little warmer and woodier. Also outside of Dargies and some of the LEs you can't get a rosewood board on an AL; if you want rosewood you're looking at the Silo Special.

Neither is exactly a Strat, but they are in the same family so to speak.;)

EDIT:
Grain of salt mention - the AL I owned was an MM-90 model; but I've had 2 rosewood board Silo Specials (and I would love to get my 2007 LE Silo Special back).
