I can't find the shell pink reference can someone point me to the source?

Search for The bass player live thread shouldn't be more than a few pages back, it's announced in the first post I believe..

Man, I'm definitely ordering one of these (in the name of Bernard Edwards, Louis Johnson, Nick Beggs and every other legend that has played MMs that have inspired me)!

Yep, I was thinking Paul Denman as well. To me, this is the classic.

Right!!! I forgot to mention him, as well... Good call!

M.

and Dougie Thomson from Supertramp.
for a short time in the early eighties John Illsley of the Dire Straits also used an ash/maple MM but I dont know if it's featured in any of their studio albums.

Man I'm impressed.

All this new stuff. First the 20th 5vr. Thought long and hard about that one but the money wasn't there. Then the 25th. Cool looking bass but too complex, just not my thing. Then The Big Al. Liked it to, but I guess I'm just an H kinda guy. The DDII, I was one the fence with. Right up my alley. I almost bought one, but other than the ebony fingerboard and really cool color it was pretty similar to what I already have (2 3 band single H models)

Now this classic. I'm really liking this. Sea foam Green, Maple board, white PG, 2 band, string thru, with mutes. How cool it that! I hope you have decided to use the metal battery cover for that classic look. I think after mulling over four different new MM basses I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on this one.

Is the 2-band cavity and metal cover smaller than the 3-band? I'm on the fence. I'd go nat/rw/tort most likely, but I've got THE sweetest natural/rw 3 band from '97 that just feels so so good. The natural finish is so unique - hard to describe other than "creamy" in appearance. I've always said I'd never sell it, it's that good and true and everything that is a stingray. One option would be to just 2-band the SR I have, but then why butcher it. I really like the nat. And, no upcharge for the matching headstock :)

The two band and 3 band cover plates are identical in size. I am sure they have kept them this way to be able to use a universal body route for ease at the factory.

Metal battery cover is okay. The only downsides are the screwdriver needed and of course the possibility of scratching the back while changing on the fly. I prefer the battery box. I like the mutes! My 93 Fretless 4 Stingray has em and they are a nice little feature!

Any Updates?................

I tried to get one of these Vintage Stingrays on order a few weeks ago, but my dealer said they were told not until sometime in October...............Any updates yet?

I am just waiting for the pricing, and color choices...............I believe it was stated some where that the Limited Edition colors would only be relased two at a time? Am I imagining this, or was this actually said some where? If this is true, I would think the Seafoam Green and Cream colors would be first, due to the photos?

I'd better get one of these on order before Winter NAMM, or you guys might come out with some thing that may make me change my mind! ;)

I personally have no problem at all with using a screw driver when changing battery. It is only needed not even once ever 6 months so I don´t see this as a problem personally.

6 months? I've been using the same batteries for the last 11 months :D

Soon gotta change them and the strings though....

Any idea on pricing yet?

They are going to be unveiled at the Bass Player Live event this coming weekend.

I'm sure we won't have any more details until then. Dealers should have details shortly after that.
