Stingray 5

Hi Dan,

Many thanks for all these pieces of information. They are very precious for me.
I understand better now why she seemed so light and comfortable. Playing her and hearding her sound was a pure magic pleasure.

Hope to write to you soon.

Bye... and thanks again.

Renaud.

Hi,

what can you tell me on E 72021? This Bass is mine but lost in the shipping or customs somewhere. Maybe you can mark that it is missing somewhere in case someone asks for this serial.

cellkirk, sure hope this bass gets found! It is a StingRay 5 HH Tobacco Burst with an all-rosewood neck. Pretty special, built on 3/17/09 and shipped to The Perfect Bass originally.

Stingray 5 HH

Hi Dan,

Hope you are good :).

What can you tell me about a Stingray 5 s/n E57706 please?

I would like to know everything : year, finish (body, neck, pickups, pickguard,...), woods, electronics, and everything else ;)

She should have been exported to France.

Thanks in advance and good week-end.

Bye.

Serial number not corresponding to bass!

Hi everybody,
I bought in Italy a Stingray 5 HH, Black, Rosewood fingerboard beginning of this year. Strangely the neck plate did not bear any EB MM logo, and the serial number (E45553) is kind of "laser printed" instead of carved. I checked the serial with MM Customer service, and they told me that it does not correspond to my bass.
I am pretty sure that the bass is original as I have been owning another Stingray 5 (H) for 10 years....
Does anybody have an explanation for this?

Hi Dan, I have the bass now here, the neckplate reads E 72021, but it is a 2-tone sunburst or tobaccoburst. It is a stunning bass.

It came like that from The Perfect Bass to the first owner. Did the neckplates happen to get mixed up at the factory?

I have two beautiful Balls.
The first, SR5 serial# E66315.
The second, SR5 serial# E28656-I was told that this bass was the first fretless with a compensated nut. Is there any way to verify that?
Thank you,

DH, sorry, no way to verify that as there are no records of that sort of thing. It is possible. We can tell you that it was built on 2/19/09 and was shipped to GC in Visalia, CA.

7/03/08 is the build date of your Trans Orange StingRay 5. That one was shipped to Bass Central.

Nice!

I did have a good weekend, thanks Renaud! Sorry I didn't get to this yesterday though ... this StingRay 5 has 2 humbuckers, 5-way switch, Ash body, Natural finish, maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and a black pickguard. And yes, it was shipped directly to France from the factory.
Hopefully that covers all! ;)

vesuvio, very interesting! A few points though ...
The serial number does not match, it refers to a StingRay 4 that was shipped to a U.S. dealer
We have never used a laser print on any instrument we have ever made for any markings for serial numbers or anything else.
All authentic Music Man instrument neck plates (where the serial number is located) have the MM logo.

Other than that - I see no problems at all! Seriously, though, pictures might help.

No, that corresponds to our records. All is good. Correction made to my post up above.
