My girlfriend is presently in San Francisco for 5 days for a business seminar, I stayed up until 01:00am here waiting for her phone call, she just phoned two minutes ago and said she's finished early for the day, so she was going to the town centre for some sight seing, and then she mentioned something about looking for Xmas presents for her daughters and her fav man! (that would be me of course) So while I was talking to her, I quickly googled Guitar Centre in SF and gave her directions to the store on Van Ness Avenue, Pacific Heights :D Let's hope she finds it.

Of course I would do the same for her if I was in her place. It's love, after all, isn't it? ;)

Very Cool!!!

My girl just took a bunch of pictures of all my SRs, as she plans on doing a custom art piece using pastels for my Christmas gift...along with some little things. She has her art throughout the house, so I'm certain this will be cool. I just told her to make sure it at least looks like a Stingray, and not just ANY bass.

So, did she fly to SF, or drive?

If she flew....wouldn't it be a little tough getting something BIG home?? I know you're hoping bass...lol

Smart thinkin now...

Excellent, now double your chances and call the Manager at GC. Chat him up on what he has that you might want and have him keep an eye out for your girlfriend. If he is any kind of salesman you may just have a very Merry Christmas!
Whatever you do, DO NOT rearrange the furniture or throw anything out while she is gone, if she does come home with a guitar and is not happy with your cleaning efforts, that guitar can become a lethal weapon!
Be prepared to reciprocate in kind...a woman who gives freely form the heart is a treasure.
And last but not least, may we all find joy during the holidays. My Christmas gift (from me to me) is a 92 EBMM Stingray in Honeyburst with the original case. HoHoHo ya'll!

Yes she flew 2 days ago, her company had a hired car waiting for her at the airport, she had one day to adjust from the lag and now she is working there for 4 days then flying back, I don't expect her to carry a new bass home, there's a 25th on the way already so... she will probably get what we call stocking fillers, she knows guitars and stuff pretty well as she used to work as international rep for Shaller. Now she works for computers doing more or less same purchasing job.

Nice one gmanp52, what a sweet bass. As I said she is not buying a bass, she did that last year already here in London (she got me a Bongo 5HHp)

welcome to the forum and to your first post.

Seems like it was only last year when it was One Love One Bass. Now it's One Love, Three Basses, and a Girl. How does he do it? :D

Well how can I reply to that statement in a light hearted way?

The secret of a good relationship with a lady who has been through a nasty divorce, as opposed to a smooth one (which I had with mine) is that you have both learnt some essential lessons in life. And the secret of our relaionship success is to share everything, be honest, trustworthy, loyal and dedicated, but most of all respect your partner and give them space.

You should send her round to BP's house - I'm sure he could sort her out with a discontinued pickguard or two.

Just spoken to the missus on skype / webcam from a starbuck with free wi-fi, she said GC in Pacific Heighs SF was cool and that she is looking for another GC store she was referred to that has more MM stuff. Didn't know there was more than one in SF. Nice! :)

So a new red Ernie Ball strap, and some SLinkys may be in order....congrats on having a Girl who knows guitars!

Thanks, but do you know what happened? This actually ended up very ugly...

She walked in the Pacific Heights store again last night (well it was night here in UK might have been afternoon there), for the 2nd time trying to get something I might like, so what she did, she had me on her cellphone while looking for anything EBMM, apparently she saw this candy apple bass (knowing I love that colour or anything red for that matter) she said I must see this bongo5 HS in a lovely red colour! Great I said but I don't want another bass, she said I know but I just wanted you to see this one, so she attempted to snap a pic to send to me via email, as soon as she got her camera out the guy from behind the counter started to yell at her, and asked her permission to frisk her bag!! wtf? So I said love pass me this guy on phone I'll talk to him.

I said are you the manager? he said no, well can I please talk to the manager? he said he was not there today. So I said "ok here is the deal: my gf there, for all you know might have a couple of grand in her pocket, looking to buy for a bass for me, she was trying to take a pic to send to me so I can say yes or no, and you've just lost a sale right there, now please let go off her bag and let her leave your store.

All this because she was taking a pic of a bass. Well I appreciate some places in US might have copyright rules and she should have asked first but there was no need to ask her to frisk her bag that was way too out of line. Oh well :/

Also he could have appreciated that with her british (scottish to be precise) accent that she was not aware of US regulations against taking pics in a public place.

Let's face it, I can see that it was wrong of her taking pics without asking permission first, different places can have different privacy rules and they might have thought she either worked for the competition or was someone getting a field imagery of the store for a potential thief to return and do them over, who knows? But what infuriated me was the way in which she was handled, asking to frisk her bag, I am here on the other side of the world and some shop assistant is manhandling my princess, it's enough to make your blood boil. I am glad she left and gone back to the hotel, I told her to forget it and do her shopping in London here with me, where I can look after her.
