On the surface these two guitars seem quite similar - both have humbuckers, both 24 frets, both have tremolo systems, both come in beautiful finishes, and both priced around the same. While I know this is an EBMM forum (obviously), what do you guys think is the better axe? Playability, performance, sound, etc etc...

You answered your own question. If we thought PRS was better, we'd be on their forum instead. Speaking for myself, I know which one I like better. :)

Let's see. That could be a tough decision. I've got a Dargie II BFR JP6 and a Trans Ruby BFR JP6. I've got a PRS...uh...wait. I don't have a PRS.

Does that answer your question? Personally, I haven't played a Custom 24. I've gotten my mitts on a couple of other ones. PRS guitars are just not for me, I think. I just prefer the feel of EBMMs better. Also, I think that the build quality is better on EBMMs than the PRS guitars I've tried. I find EBMMs easier for me to play too.

Everyone's different. Try em both out and buy the one that works better for you. It's not rocket science!

I think this would make more sense if you asked this question on a more 'neutral' forum like ultimate-guitar.com. Nothing is wrong with PRS, but most folks here are fans of Music Man - else we would probably be on a different forum.

+1

I can't imagine we would be here (and most of us are die hards) if we preferred PRS. Like paranoid said....this question would generate a more objective discussion in a neutral setting.

Ive tried a PRS custom 24 it was good..
comparing it to the standard JP6 the JP6 is much much better..
so to cOmpare it to a BFR jp6, it will definitely kill it. :D

PRS is a great guitar as well..
heck im still gassing for one ;) especially the Opeth signature :D

I tried both side by side one day out of curiosity, and hands down the JP BFR was the better of the two for me. The PRS did nothing at all for me, it just didnt feel right.. but that is how i found it, you may find the complete opposite.

Brand X vs Brand Y threads are dumb on any forum.

Keep in mind...Pops likes variety. I do as well. However, you do realize you are on the EBMM forum right? I mean, you said you do....but...really?

I think you got your answer and I am willing to bet if you pose the same question over at the B&M site you will get a different answer.

Both manufacturers make quality guitars. Each is different. i happen to like EBMM best as that is what works for me.

I have Music Man guitars and I have PRS guitars. Both are outstanding brands of guitars. For playability, sound, performance - they're both fantastic. Which is better? That's really up to you and what you want. Personally, I think a Custom 24 may be a bit more versatile than a BFR JP6, but the BFR JP is more comfortable to play for me. Truth is - you need to play both and see what works for you.

Be nice everybody...he is expecting a biased opinion but maybe some of the bias will help him choose one way or the other...I think PRS makes fantastic guitars and am happy to be in the same sentence. I hoep you choose ours but you cannot make a mistake
