Despite the Poll - I see it as

  • US Voter/Potential purchasers 12

    [*]UK 3+ me -

That puts us VERY SHORT!

Are you telling me you don't want a special knucklehead ball???? -

If it weren't a sparkle would you buy it instead?

i think you would get a lot more people including myself if we could scrap whats been done to this point. unfortunatley we found out bout the specifics of what we could have i.e wood change or colour only. after this thing really got going. i think now we know. put up a poll for the model first .ie. silo, luke etc. then once we have a model decided. a poll for wood or new colour. then when thats decided we have suggestions of either colours, or wood choices . then you would know what guitar its gonna be on so more people would be able to imagine the sound/look that would end up being the final product. then the most common choices go to poll. if its a wood change that wins then a poll from the standard colour chart takes place. then you have a final guitar .pretty much.

i have said this before but no one really took any notice. this to me is the only way to step it out and get it heading towards a final product.

what seemed to happen this time is 2 or 3 people got carried away with a sparkle al hh.
(if thats what smelly wants thats fine it was his idea but as has been proven there aint a lot of people gonna buy a sparkly pink al hh .) the original poll didnt even pick a sparkle colour but it got chosen anyway and on a guitar that no one chose. it doesnt suprise me that loads of people dont want one.

sorry if this upsets anyone . it isnt meant to. i started flogging some of my stuff on ebay when i found out this might come together. so i could orde one if i liked the result. so i do have an intrest in it.

+1. I agree with scrapping the idea and starting over with a model poll, than a color poll (with options other than sparkles). I think the sparkle thing is what's causing people to not get in on this, honestly.

My two cents Smelly-

This is an idea that might get traction later in the year. Right now there are a bunch of new models, with more hinted at being released in the coming months (Reflex, perhaps a chambered Y2D). This is soon to be followed by the tax-time revelations that a chunk of forum members are screwed and will have to sell off some of their gear

You might have better luck months from now when there's nothing new and people are itching for something fun. Again, just my own opinion here.

BP is gracious enough to entertain this idea in the first place, so certainly want to be respectful of his time & patience.

The first poll should have been :

"Would you commit to dropping the $$$ on a special run EBMM in the next 'X' months ???"
(specs per BP's limitations).

Though this inlcudes all models, I reckon you'd still be lucky to get 50.
Even if you got 150, only a small percentage of them are going to agree on the final spec.

With so much awesome new stuff around, I think the vast majority are going to be very content with what's already available.

You're right Beej - lets leave it a while and see if enthusiasm picks up near summer.... would you mind locking her up?

Before the padlock though I'd like to express my gratitude to Glenn & Browndog for putting work and input into this. Also big thanks to Beej for being the voice of reason (they really should make you a mod some day !) - and of course BP for his kind offer, I'll get you 50 Sterling - it'll just take a while....

For those who've had the 'it'll never work' attitude and posted frequently in the negative, I am pretty disapointed, if you're not keen on something by all means pass comment, but to do it over and over just wastes bandwidth....

maybe some other time- Thank you and good night, Smelly has left the building....

A good effort all round and I think that the indication by EB, to do something a bit special for the knuckleheads (if the demand was there) is awesome. Try doing that with Gibson and Fender.

Lessons have been learnt and I think to try and pin it down to one model was just a bridge too far.

My 2p's worth is that we should all just sit back and reflect on this and maybe just keep it to a custom colour, decal, and maybe a real nice neck (roasted maple perhaps?).

So i bet the juices have been flowing Smelly over the last week or so? - Let's not let this die - let's learn from it, as i said earlier reflect and come back another day?

Thanks again Smelly one - now get the A3 sorted !!!;)

Thanks to Smelly for all your effort and to all else who were involved. It was my pleasure helping out with all the fun and you can count me in if needed again.

I truly believe that this will work someway, somehow.

smelly. good work son. think the recent thoughts are bang on. i'm sure at a later point in the year, you'll have 50+ knuckleheads ready to roll (and rock) on a body style with custom colour, decal and neck finish.

who knows, maybe it should be called the 'smelly'.

peace out.

Hey Smelly

I think you've done a fantastic job of getting this far. With so many models and variations to narrow down to where we are now is incredible.

Agree that the negative aspect of the forum needs to go and stand outside and stay there. After all, if it's not for you then don't comment.

I've been following this thread daily to see which way it swings. I'm a little sad and disappointed that it's being parked but I think it's probably the right thing to do now.

Also, you have enough on your plate with your mum right now (hope she's on the mend) and need to focus attention in the right places.

You'll always be a mover, shaker and a voice of reason and humour on this forum. Take some time out for you and what's important in your life.

I for one always look forward to your comments and will look forward to the return of Smelly at the right time.

All the best mate.
