For some reason thats not working for me either. If you want to hear some sound clips of an HH stingray my band has some recordings up on our facebook, and theres two videos of us playing live. The amp I'm using is an Ampeg SVT3pro with an Ampeg 410HLF cabinet. Both the videos and the songs are on the left hand side of the page. Heres the link http://www.facebook.com/theoverdriveband

oh! and if you're looking into ampeg stay away from the b series and the combos and the solid states unless you like gritty mids, which i dont particularily like but some people do. in my opinion they're not nearly as good as anything they throw the classic label on. the svt tube/solid state amps are actually pretty bitchin' depending on the model

I found you, but the video link wasn't working. Yea man, go to GC and try everything under the roof there. This is the problem your gonna find here on this forum. To many people are going to give you what they think is the best advice based on their previous experiences. Your idea of a budget amp is probably completely different from someone else's. Also, the sound that you may be wanting to get out of amp is completely different than what they want. You have to take everything into consideration, the music you play, the style you play, how aggressive you play or don't play, the list can go on and on. Just go in there and bang on few, change the settings up on the amps, turn everything all the way up on your stingray and let the amp set the tone. Then come back and let us know what you got.

Okay, most of my advice doesn't apply to your situation. What I saw didn't look too bad; you look like you know what you're doing. Difficult to pick out the tone in the videos, but if you don't like it, by all means go out and find something that sounds good to you. I saw a large Ampeg cab in the stage vid- not yours?

You prolly need a good 2x12 or 4x10 for best results if you can afford it; a crappy 15 not gonna cut it on that stage (you were right 57 ). Here's something else to consider. If you really have to provide your own sound from the stage (no PA support), sell the SLO Ray and use the proceeds to fund a good amp and cab setup. You like the regular Ray neck anyway and I think your money is better spent on power and cabs.

I hear you....but I guess I'm weak...I have a small collection...is 3 basses considered a collection? :D

It's a collection only if you don't play them. :p I'm always guilty of getting wrapped up solely in equipment for equipment's sake and not using it as intended. I'm just starting out and already have 3 basses- treading perilously close to collecting again!

yeah unfortunately the camera was my dads and doesnt record loud so close so well. no the gallien krueger and ampeg on that stage belonged to the venues. but i don't think i can ever sell my ray and just be left with my ray 34. i mean i have an Aria pro 2 but doesnt give me as much punch as music-man does :). that was my firsh show ever though. anyways this morning i took my stingray out of its case and the neck felt a little better. couldn't finger pluck much though because my index finger hurts of yesterdays practice so i used my pick. The tone i get out of it when it isn't even plugged in still amazes me. somethign even my ray 34 cant do as well as yet they're both setup with power slinky's. i guess now i just have to get the action low for comfortable play but without fret buzz. i don't want to have my right arm feeling like i was lifting weights after half an hour to an hour.

well what if i tried to get a backline 600 amp with an ampeg cab? or should i just get a combo amp? plus if anyone has facebook you guys can see my covers to see how i play.

Whats your name on Facebook.

Don't worry so much about changing out amps(Head) right now. I think what you have is fine, but you may want to invest in a 410 or 212 like DaddyFlip suggested, and you have to master your eq...Just remember not to dial in too much bass or you may wind-up sounding muddy.

well only 3 of these are like recent videos but some ok ones i guess. YouTube - kadaj110's Channel

That live clip has some terrible sound quality. Just try some amps out(as Bloodfist suggested), make sure you can afford what you want, but make sure can gig with it too. A 300 watt amp and a 410, and you should be good enough to play some live gigs.

thanks. i will consider that strongly. jammed with my friend today. it's been months since i play with him and it was really hard to match y rumble 15 with his line 6. have to a break though because lately my index finger has been hurting from finger plucking.

dont take a break! put a bandaid on there and play through the pain! also make sure you move your thumb to the string behind the one you're playing on. when i was a wee child i thought that i didnt have to do this, not only it makes the sound FAR better but its easier on the fingers. i dont know if you do that or not but if not, you should try it. that way you sound more even and its a lot less strain when you reach for the g, however when you're new to that methoid you're gonna trip on strings
