Hi,

I'd like to know the official DOB of my new sabre SN: B027145 , Preamp dated 12-nov-87
(pics in the http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-basses/3413-picture-gallery-39.html#post703009 )

Thanks !

Hi Nounouk.

There's no data base information for the early "B" serials. Dates can be located on the neck heel and the neck pocket on the body (neck has to be removed). The pre-amp date can sometimes be 2-3 months earlier than those dates. Your serial is more consistent with being 1988 especially if you have the new solid Black headstock logo (little men from waist up only and positioned in middle of logo...not at the beginning). If you have older logo then it's probably late 1987.

Can you let me know which logo you have or perhaps a pic:
[email protected]

By the way...Killer Bass! Congrats and thanks for the pic.

Hi everybody,

It would be great to get the details for my StingRay 5-string, #56961, purchased used at Ed's Music Workshop, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. 3-eq, rosewood fingerboard, one of the red-ish burst finishes, white pickup, tortoise pickguard.

A playmate for my #B014587 pre-EB '79 walnut StingRay...$300 at Ring Music in Toronto in the early '80s. Best purchase I ever made.

Thanks,

Any Info regarding my SR5?
SN: E12818
Bottom of Bass EQ Pot has ML 12.9.99 on it.
Bottom of pickup cavity has a small white label with 5214441 and 150 50 20 01 on it.
Could you be so gracious as to explain the different numbers?
Thanks.

Hi - I looked up the serial number of your bass and it was completed on March 10, 2000. The date on the pot is when the harness was assembled together. The white sticker contains the work order number (5214441) and the build number/item number for that specific model bass. 150 means SR5 single hum, 50 is the color which is trans red, 20 is for the neck-rosewood with a non-painted headstock, and 01 is for the pickguard-black. Each number tells us what specific options are for that bass.

Hey Rod,

My names Goldsie & you've got a few pics of my 89 Sabre on your pic pages... But I've got to admit it's been a few years since I've logged on to your site. I'm selling a 2008 HH fretless Ray (black body/maple neck/rosewood board) and I've been asked what the body would be... My best guess is Ash... would I be right? I also haven't been able to access your Ernie Ball site at all and I've been trying all day. Is it still up & running? If so I think there maybe a prob with the link... Anyway man, I hope you're really well. Keep up the sensational work...

Greg....

Rod is correct when he said the body wood is Ash :)

Got a stingray just yesterday...could you give me the DOB on it? E28354

Rod,

thanks for your reply. I don´t know what Pre-EB is, but it was built around 1960, so I guess it´s an early Ernie Ball, right?

Serial:
B 022592
Red finished, maple fingerboard.

-Tobias

A Pre-EB Bass has 3 dot markers past the 12th fret and the string retainer is on the D&G strings. An EB (Ernie Ball) Bass has 4 dot markers past the 12th fret and the retainer is on the A&D strings. Some very early EB Basses don't have "Ernie Ball" on the headstock. Pre-EB Basses commenced production in 1976 while EB Basses started in 1984.

Gracias! It's everything I remember. I knew there was a reason I kept telling myself, "As soon as I can afford it, I'm getting another Stingray and this time I'm not selling it for anything!"

Could you run my two 5-strings please?

Stingray 5 # E17809 - Do you know what the body wood is? It's finished in blue pearl so I can't see the woodgrain.

SUB 5 # X12952 - Does this bass have an alnico pickup?

Thanks!
