Well folks, she's finally here. Had to reschedule with Dan, but he dropped off the guitar this afternoon. I must say, I think it looks stellar.
threeminutesboy is right, that in the pictures, the guitar looks very Sapphire Black. Unfortunately, it's ugly and rainy out today, so I wasn't able to take the guitar outside to get any GOOD pictures, but I got some decent ones in my room. The fade is subtle, even in person, but when it hits you, it stands out. I did the best I could to capture the fade in the pictures. The body work does indeed seem to be practically flawless. I can see a little bit of the work I did in the back Piezo Cavity, but given what I had to build it up from, I'm not surprised. You only see it at the right angle though, and only if you're looking.
But anyway, enough of my rambling...here are the pictures
The white you see inside of the cavities and pickup areas is leftover buffing compound. When I get time, a wet Q-tip and some wet Cloth will remove what's left of that.
Dan did a stellar job, and really knows his stuff. He redrilled all of the holes after painting, just a little bit smaller than they really are, to make sure there was no clearcoat/paint left in there. Meaning, when I screw all the pieces back in, there should be no clearcoat cracking/mushrooming.
Overall, the paint job cost $170. A little pricey, but he won me over when he brought me a sample of my paint scheme before he even saw the guitar. Now having the guitar in my hands, I think it's money well spent.
I can't say yet when I'll have the time to start soldering the electronics back the way they're supposed to be, but I'll get there.

Hi Morbid. It looks fantastic - I am concerned why didn't you prevent the neck pocket from getting sprayed?
How do you think your neck would fit in there since all that thickness from the additional paint obviously has added to the dimensions on each side?
I hope that you have a solution and you wont have to cut and sand back again ...

No worries. That was one of the things I'd forgotten to mention when I said Dan (the painter)knows his stuff. He only sprayed one layer of paint in the pocket to get rid of all the ugly blue and any remaining wood. The pockets were all then taped off and the guitar was finished. The guitar is sitting on my bed right now with the neck in the pocket perfectly.
