Ummm... I think you might have missed the point (IMHO) of the Classic series.

They're an homage to the past... the way things were 25 years ago.

The Bongo isn't about the past.

There was never a 2 band Sterling with mutes. There was never a 2 band 5 string Stingray with mutes.

So, no one is "missing the point." Who says there can't be a classic styled Bongo?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Bongo in Coral Red with a birdseye maple neck/fretboard, either.

Nothing to say you can't do it, but it's not the spirit of the Bongo.

A Classic Series Big Al makes more sense to me. It's more retro-futuristic.

That's more of the idea I had in mind. I know the Bongo concept is all about innovation, and so my post was sort of a joke/sort of something to get people's imaginations going.

That said... I'd love to see one with birdseye maple neck and in Vintage Sunburst!

While a classic Bongo does not really sound right to me... I do think a mute bridge with a Bongo's 18v active package has the potential for some awesome tones. Not so sure about the maple neck people are suggesting but a Mahog body would be awesome. JOSH
