So let me paint the picture....I tend to get really nervous for England football soccer games...a lot more nervous than going on stage or playing when I was a pro football/soccer player.......

So we take the lead with a great move early on, but from there the US are matching us - then a monumental goalkeeping error let in probably the weakest shot ever seen at a world cup.......

....and 1-1 it stayed.......the English overpaid primadonnas draw against what are considered a 'developing nation' in football terms.....grrrrr!!!

Seriously though - a fair result on the night...and a practice game really for England until we play some real football nations! LOL ;O)

Anyone US side watch the game??

Well you lot still haven't learned the lesson from Italia '90?

Went into Cameroon game expecting it would be training exercise against a "developing nation"...

England were lucky to leave that game with a victory.

Jeez hard to think that was 20 years ago now...

Aza - We had Gazza in 90 so there was always a chance something would be created out of nothing as well has having just a better team in general......the media are our biggest undoing - we will realistically finish (as usual) around quarter finals.......but the media build us to fail..

Nath - What was the time over there?

Next Eng-erl-land game will be against Algeria which is the African leading football team. (Zidane came from there) those are some of the worlds best players. ouch.

It was a terrible game. Capello made an enormous mistake playing Heskey as deep striker instead of Rooney. The Brits were lucky to step off that field with a tie. Then again, the tournament is still young, room for improvement. In all honesty I think we haven't seen the next world champion play yet. Argentina was a disappointment as well. I'm obviously biased, but the Netherlands has a shot. So do Spain and Brazil. We'll know more after the first dutch match tomorrow.

Because of me English heritage, I decided to cheer on England again.

My viewing lasted of all 10 minutes. After watching the Stanley Cup Finals, soccer was just too dull.
I’d rather have a colonoscopy than watch another game.

Looking at the game right now, England should have no trouble rolling them up. Worst game of the worldcup so far.

The Vuvuzelas are seriously messing with my enjoyment of watching.

Also, you can never expect anything in the World Cup. NEVER.

Lol - Only soccer!! you sound like my wife!!! ;o)

Someone mentioned soccer was dull...what's all that about - biggest game on this earth....dull??? Each to their own ;o)

Algeria are appalling - got into the World Cup by the skin of their teeth and were dismal in the African Cup of Nations. (Appreciate Zidane was from there - but he chose to play for France as his parents were French, even he wouldn't have made them a decent team).

I think England and the US will cane the group - we're notoriously bad starters (in 90 we drew with Ireland in the first game, same in Euro 96.....) and we always seem to play poorly against weaker sides ;o)

...and yes - you pay a shedload less for your balls - that pisses me right off! ;o)

....tell you what though, how awesome seeing all the troops having a great time watching the games in the middle east - that was great.

will see what will be the results but I'd like to see a new team winning the world cup like Spain or Netherlands both deserve such a title

Interestingly enough, Slovenia is the only winning team in the group C right now!

Go Slovenia!!!

Each to their own... you are correct. I’m not dissing the sport, its just not for me.

I know soccer is the biggest game on earth but to me its dull IMHO.

You have to remember that I just finished watching 2 gruelling months of NHL playoffs... the fastest game on earth.

Watched a few of the games from the first two days. England didn't look that good to me except for the first 5 minutes. We got a lucky break with your fumble-fingered goalie, but you guys caught a break on that hit post. Soccer is considered boring to most American's because there is not that much contact in the sport, and the players are pretty much actresses on the field when they get an owie. I realize that they have strong legs and kick hard, but almost every time a player is touched they go into the fetal position on the field. Also, the game is extremely low scoring and doesn't hold many people's attention. We also hate the concept of tying, and like the idea of a clear-cut winner. We would rather see someone get their head torn off on the football field or cracked in the face during a fight/MMA.
