I have been toying with the idea of playing a 5 stringer for a while but never really found a bass that fits me. I was in GC the other day looking at 5 string basses just to get my feet wet and the sales rep brought me a beautiful tobacco burst stingray classic 5 just because it had a crazy awesome birds eye maple neck. Out of 10 basses I tried the other day it was the only 5 string to really make me smile. Easy to play, tight B-string, the right tone and so forth. Even compared to the Stingray 5, the classic series 5 fit me better. If I wasn't dumb enough to rationalize that I cannot afford that bass at this time and I have 3 other stingrays, I would have walked out of GC with that thing.
Now time will tell whether I manage to buy a Classic Stingray 5. Now I don't exactly need one (with 3 other basses on hand that work just fine) but it'd be nice to have
