I always knew Jimi had the right idea. He was just way ahead of his time.

Just curious - Sadowsky started offering roasted maple necks a few months ago - whose idea was this - or is it a new trend that we'll see other mfrs doing?

I don't belive you can get the roasted on the classics. Otherwise, you would be second in line. :D

got any pictures of a bongo with this neck... I'm feelin' a single H 5'er coming on... :)

I got that feeling too!

Wow. Makes me feel better about missing out on the all-rosewood necks. Looks like a stealth with a slight sparkle from the front, at least up to the headstock. The figuring on that neck is unreal.

What makes me feel ever better is not missing out on the rosewood necks and now this. I knew there had to be something cool coming down the road, Musicman is unstoppable in their production of tasty exotic wood offerings. I think they're saving the mahogany Bongo for the 10th anny.

Note that its only available with the Black Sugar finish. I mistakenly thought that had something to do with the neck finishing and not the name of the instruments finish.

Yeah, me and my gf have a "saving fund" for our holiday money... anyway what is a holiday when you can have a roasted neck? I s'pose I can take a shorter one or another one later. But as soon as I have asked the Blind Lemon exactly what I can order with that neck, I should then pull the trigger. I already have a Bongo 5HHP, a Big Al 5 SSS and a 25th HSS. I've sold the old Stingray 5 fancing a Classic Ray 5, before these necks were even announced so that void must be filled up soon.

It's early days, hopefully Dargin and BP will let us know in more details which basses can be offered with that neck combo.

Okay, I have to ask:

  • With all the benefits listed, why wouldn't this be a standard feature on all the instruments? (Price?)

  • Are the necks actually roasted or is it just a treatment that makes them look roasted?
