A couple of years ago I was thinking about buying an AL. I found a couple that I liked online, but then got cold feet and ended up buying a Fender Mark Knopfler Strat. It's a great, guitar, but I still have GAS for an AL.

Problem is, I can't seem to find any I like online. I'd love a pinkburst, but I know that color is retired save the BFRs. In lieu of that color, blueburst or some other cool color that AL has actually played. Not much of a fan of sunburst or gold. Also, I'm looking for a SSS model with trem. A cool red color would work, also. I can't seem to find any online dealers that have any I'm interested in. I've tried Pete's website as well as Guitar Emporium. Any other big online dealers I'm missing?

Give us a call, toll free, 866-823-2255. If there's a dealer in the US that has one of these (or anything else) we can help you find it.

Why not get the Roasted Maple/Black Sugar look as I would believe that AL will have one in his herd as BP already sent JP one. The way I figure it Luke, Morse and Al will all have one too, and then you will have one that AL has that not many guys could claim.

In Peoria, Il at Flores Music, there is a Dark Cherry-Burst BFR AL. It has a rosewood neck, and piezo fixed bridge. It is not an SSS, but it has 3 MM90s, which I think looks really cool. I'm not typically a fan of the AL, but this one is so cool, I would even get it.

You are misinformed Rob, the best AL's have 2 humbuckers, a mahogany body and an all rosewood neck...

Second place would be an SSS AL

I think maybe, it's a tie. They both smoke! I used to have an SSS/maple neck. I think I will again, too. But man, the HH AL is an amazing tone monster as well! The simple answer is - you need both!

Yeah, well, if I had the bucks, I'd buy a SSS, P-90, and HH!

But my first step will be a SSS w/ Trem. Damn, I wish they still made the pinkburst in a regular production AL!!!

I really like the folks here, they're great.

A little about my story. I've gone through tons of Strats. My latest, a Mark Knopfler sig, is the best one I've had but it's still lacking something. I have two KILLER Teles, an '84 '52 reissue with a great flame neck, and a custom built Tele with Bardens in it and a huge neck.

I had been thinking about an AL (I'm a HUGE Al fan, got all of his solo, Hogan's CDs and about every DVD that's had him on it) a couple of years ago and had a line on a couple of cool ones but decided on the MK. I don't regret it, but I'm probably going to sell it to get an AL. I'm definitely a Tele guy, but I really want to find a Stratty style guitar to bond with....I figure trying an AL's my next step.

I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer (Another story sometime, short version is it was caught super early) and had surgery two weeks ago. All this time on my hands has brought me to watching Al vids...and AL gas!!!

Thanks for all the friendliness here, by the way!!!

I live in southern Illinois. Yes, I had a GREAT doctor who caught it early, and got it all out. I am very blessed. I just posted my story in the Current Events forum, for anyone who is interested.

Firstly - great news on resolving your health issues.

Secondly - I don't find the AL to have a real chunky neck - I have small hands and love the AL neck. I mention this because you have stated that you have a guitar with a "huge neck".
For further info on neck profiles take a look here

I "discovered" the AL 5 years ago and haven't looked back - I love it (them;))

Thanks, Spud. I'll read that link. Actually, I think I read it the last time I was considering an AL, but I'll read it again. My wife informed me that I need to get my med bills/insurance BS worked out before I buy my AL, and of course she's right.

I DO like big necks, but I like smaller ones, too. About the only neck I don't really like that I thought I'd love was a Clapton V neck. Caused my hands to cramp up.
