OK, since I got my Axis SS 3 weeks ago that is pretty much all I have played. I did a gig last weekend that required me to do some stuff with the GR-20 synth so I was forced to use my Strat with a GK-3 pickup installed. Man, was it hard to go back. The Axis neck is so much "faster" I felt like I was wrestling with the Strat all night.

Tell me about it, my GK-3 doesnt fit my floyded Silo. Highly annoying, 'till I find the cash to fit an internal or Graphtech Ghost solution...

I've said it before, but I have Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez, and a Jackson. Some pretty nice guitars actually, but since I got my first Axis earlier in the year none of them have hardly been touched. The Axis is far and away the most comfortable to play, it is almost effortless. And it sounds and looks great too. Don't know what else I really need.

Hehe....love the thread title. My knee jerk response was 'that's ok, we don't like your Strat either'.

I've still NEVER played a strat that I liked. However, I've played dozens of EBMMs I've liked, maybe more...

So I've read about the EJ and Mayer Strats, etc., and I guess my ears just aren't good enough to buy the whole 'ultra thin nitro finish makes the guitar sound better' thing. I much prefer my ultra thick, virtually indestructible EBMM polyester finish. Nitro is sticky, checks easily, and doesn't play nice with many guitar stands and hangars. I want my guitars painted like cars....built to withstand the elements. :)

I guess I should define what I mean by "fast" when talking about the Axis neck. It is everything, the gun oil finish, the fret work, the shape, the sting tension. It all comes together beautifully. Guess I'm preaching to the choir here. Can I get an Amen?

Well, since the op brought up Strats........ I love my Strats.

My #1 is my SMY2D but my Strats still get attention.

Same here Shredhed, still have one as my GK-3 axe and have had quite a few amazing other ones in the past. Better than EBMM? Not really relevant, they have their place. I want some other Balls before I buy another strat, that's the only thing I do know ;).

Horses for courses... I know a little Custom Shop Strat that is getting more time than an Axis right now... having choice is a wonderful blessing, and both have their place and their #1 times. I couldn't rank one over the other as they are both so different.

Oh, no doubt, the Strats still have their place as do my Teles. I've got the Deluxe with the GK-3. a Suhr, and a G&L Legacy that are all fine guitars. I'm just amazed at how the Axis plays in comparison. Tone wise, completely different animals. But for feel (in my hands) the Axis gets the nod.:)
