Hmm. But then my Hello Kitty scalp tattoo would be revealed. Maybe it would be a fitting occasion to do so during the Gamechanger unveil.

I'm not trying to be a downer here, but I'm pretty sure I won't NEED a GC. Would it be nice to HAVE, sure! I just don't think all the sounds are necessary for a part-time musician. Let's face it, as long as the bass cuts through in a live mix, whether it sounds like a P-BASS or a Rickenbacher won't make a huge difference.

If you are a studio guy, then the different tones would definitely come in handy.

Trying to understand the concept. Is this a feature that will be available as an addition to the electronics package in each model or will there be a specific gamechanger guitar and gamechanger bass?

Not an add-on... it's specific. Not retrofittable, not an "extra option." It's a dedicated electronics package.

As I understand it (and I'm probably wrong) you get to tweak your settings however you like and save them. There will be a switch where you can call up the saved settings. How many you can save and what the saved parameters cover, I have no idea.

So, rather than twist knobs and select pickups to go from, say, a hi-fi modern slap tone to a woofy old-school Motown thump, you just flip a switch and bang--there it is.

There's also (I think) some sort of integration with computers, so you can download settings other people (or the factory) have come up with. So if you want to get the same sound that Dave LaRue uses, you just download his patch and there you go. No guessing.

First one out the gate is in the Reflex body shape.

I think adouglas has it.

All speculation, but as I understand it from the tidbits released around here:
- One bass model (for now): The Reflex.
- Virtually unlimited pickup settings and combinations with zero degradation in sound quality and limitations as known in traditional electronics up to now (series, parallel, etc...).
- Downloadable and uploadable settings (computer, iPhone, iPad, etc...).
- Store and save favorites for instant call up.

So, am I close? Only NAMM 2011 will tell for sure!!

A disclaimer: I am merely envisioning what it may be.
I am probably wrong.

Analog P/U into DSP, then out to jack.
All knobs control DSP functions.
Some knobs select presets for specific bass types while others control the variation of their sounds.

Yeah, but theres got to be some magic salsa/mojo in that DSP, which is why they've been working on it for many moons.

I believe it was Ferdinan Porsche who said "The great thing about a Porsche is the fact that you don't NEED one" ;)

I think there are parallels that can be drawn here :)
